Kherson Mayor Kolykhaev: “The city is surrounded.” According to Kherson mayor Igor Kolykhaev, the situation in the southern regional capital is tense with Russian troops entering the city and taking administrative buildings.

Clarification: Kolykhaev said that Russian troops are "entering" administrative buildings like the city council, not capturing them.

I am curious though, this being in Southern Ukraine, it seems the Russians are intent on installing pro-Russian administrations...

There was a democratic election more democratic that Ukraine ever had.
Russia invaded a country which did not attack them and is killing civilians among other things.
Ukrainians are fighting the Russians. They are not surrendering en masse.

Don't be daft. See what reality is like. You take the Russians as gospel and you have only suspicion against anything non-Russian. You are extremely biased and prejudiced.

And I was very empathetic to the Russians. I was against the Nato attack on Serbia. I was not pro Second Gulf war. I thought Russia could be a counterbalance to some effects but I was wrong to think these things. This is 1970s Soviet tactics. Not even Andropov or Brezhnev would resort to this sort of thing. They were even going to let Eastern Europe go.

The guy is bragging on TV that they are using the olympics as a distraction "to take a country back from Russia" i.e. bragging about launching a coup d'état.

Did the US launch a coup d'état or not? simple question, I am talking about 2014.

Im not sure its more than Afghanistan in the 80s, besides what can Russia do in response? Fund enemies of the USA? They have already been doing that.

Even if there was a coup and I'm not concluding it, the people ran with it. Remember the Soviet Union and therefore the Russian Federation were founded illegally. If you want to say the regime in the Ukraine is illegal, then Russia is also illegal. USSR was a country founded by a revolution supported by German money. Russian government was never democratic under the USSR. When USSR collapsed it just continued and had elections. This is no different then.

You can see that you are only offering special pleading for your Russian cause.

no man, the coup d'état is just a regime change tactic, the "people running with it" is just a way of using tactics to play one side against another. The US convinced the shaits and Sunis in Iraq to hate each other as well, despite often being intermarried.

it's good old imperialism.
