Ukraine had a presidential and parliamentary election in 2019, a new president was elected, and a new government was formed so why do you keep referring to the current government as being the same as the one in 2014? Or does that inconvenient fact not suit the narrative?

it's largely a continuation of the cabal, in fact much of those campaigns were supported by the NED and the German government.

The impact of that idiotic move is of such a nature that the ultranationalist government has been lobbing the USA for a bigger escalation with Russia, they have also pushed key experts on the situation out of important diplomatic positions.

Matthew Rojansky is the head of the Kennan Institute, a notable think tank at the US government-funded Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. Despite his well-established expertise on Russia and lengthy record of leadership on the issue, he has been judged “too soft” to work in the Biden White House.

An increasingly influential element within Washington’s powerful anti-Russian lobby is taking a victory lap after Politico credited it for helping to block Rojanksy’s appointment to Russia director at the National Security Council. It is the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), an organization with close ties to the extremist Banderite movement.

The UCCA made its opposition to Rojansky known in the form of an “emphatic request” to President Joseph Biden, accusing the veteran Russia hand of making unspecified “incendiary comments over the years” which supposedly indicated that “Ukraine is expendable to secure closer U.S.-Russia relations.”

Calling a government that was brought to power through a coup d'état democratic is just dishonest. Gadhafi also won elections with a high percentage.

There is a diplomatic route out of the Ukraine crisis

Ukraine will never join Nato, and there will be no war between Russia and the west. The first has long been assured. The second will depend on whether Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden follow the tried and trusted methods of international diplomacy. As early as May 1989, President George H W Bush laid out aspirations for the post-cold war era: to create a “Europe whole and free” and at peace. The challenge was to engage Russia in broader European security and politics without it playing a spoiler’s role. Nato would remain and Russia would not be stigmatised as having lost the cold war. In 1997, Nato decided to take in three new members, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary — the first two to reassure everyone about Germany’s future. The Nato-Russia Founding Act established a joint council in which Moscow would be an equal partner. The allies would not let Ukraine become part of a Russian sphere of influence, but also knew it could not be included in Nato. The result was the Nato-Ukraine Charter which gives Ukraine the right to consultations at Nato and a long list of areas of co-operation, together with a promise that in time it might be considered for Nato membership.

And comparing a country that had over 2000 foreign observers for it's 2019 elections that ousted a sitting president to a country ruled by a army General for over 40 years, even for you that is a stretch.

Rather than focus on diplomacy, the United States' reliable British client has been trotted out, Iraq WMD dossier-style (or Steele dossier-style, or Syria dirty war-style), to lodge the explosive allegation that Russia is plotting to install a new leader in Ukraine via a coup. While declaring that the obedient Brits were “Muscular” for shouldering the war-mongering allegation, the New York Times quietly acknowledged that they also "provided no evidence to back up" their claims.

After warning of a "false flag" operation by Russia in Ukraine, the US pulled off a stunt of its own by recalling its embassy personnel out of stated concern for their safety. Unlike the dutiful British, other US allies failed to get the memo, including the EU, which declined to follow suit and even took a pointed swipe at attempts to "dramatize" the situation.

There is a reason that Ukraine is such a strong point for Russia, it is the only logical pathway into Russia from the west and the same route that the Germans has taken when they invaded.

To be fair, it's interesting that a country with a GDP close to Italy is rated the 2nd strongest military force in the world. Seems they sure know how to manage their finances?

I suspect fighting off Mongol hordes of Genghis Khan, the Ottoman Empire multiple times, Napoleon Bonaparte and Hitler's Reich has engraved a defiant survivalist instinct deep in their DNA

Finance lessons they learned from over expanding in the USSR days and dealing with the aftermath of the collapse ... modern day Russia has substantial gold and foreign reserves, substantial natural resources, zero debt ... which is why they can afford to brush off all the sanctions

whether or not Ukraine is allowed into it comes down to France who is the largest military on the continent. I don't think that a Macron is going to make a move on it now, because it's elections.
