All these calls to disconnect Russia from SWIFT. Do they really think pushing a nuclear power into a corner is a good idea?

With poverty brought on by yourself or just circumstance more often than not leads to desperate measures.
Ask Putin. He's the one pushing Russia into a corner here. The world's response, in the interest of international law and order, as prescribed by the UN, of which Russia is a member - Is predictable, was made clear what it would be before these events, and is entirely appropriate.

UN = not a court, has no power
SWIFT = not the UN in any way shape or form
international law = nothing of any consequence to any of the world's superpowers, never has been

Russia? got pushed into a corner in 2014, took them a while to lash out, yet here we are

So oil reserves is never a reason ?

Here are the 10 countries with the most oil reserves 2022 :
  1. Venezuela (300.90 Bn)
  2. Saudi Arabia (266.50 Bn)
  3. Canada (169.70 Bn)
  4. Iran (158.40 Bn)
  5. Iraq (142.50 Bn)
  6. Kuwait (101.50 Bn)
  7. United Arab Emirates (97.80 Bn)
  8. Russia (80.00 Bn)
  9. Libya (48.40 Bn)
  10. Nigeria (37.10 Bn)
I wonder why the US ( and certain NATO allies )have such a big issue with Venezuelan goverment the last few years? ( with usual rebel sponsorship through the CIA ). Going through the above list i notice a pattern if we go by the last few decades of history.
Venezuela may have the biggest reserves, but the most expensive to extract - the price of oil is sometimes not worth the extraction cost in this case.
So one could eliminate oil as a factor in your argument.

Really weird you are supporting an authoritarian war mongering dictator, who is an ex-KGB officer, given how petrified you are about the communist under your bed.
Un yet the dictator on more than one occasion tabled this with NATO and the west. They labelled him a tyrant and laughed at his idea of a neutral border.

hows this different from Mike Pompeo? an ex CIA director who boasts about the fact that "we lied, we cheated, we stole"

Will the nukes come out?
No idea. I do know that somebody with nothing to loose has everything to gain. SWIFT may just be a single straw of many that would eventually “break the camels back”.

Totally hypothetical, no evidence. Just spit balling.

So what’s the end game here?
Make Ukraine Russia again?
Insert new puppet government in Ukraine?
Just scare them to conform with Russian demands?
Russia lose to Ukraine?
Russia blow up the whole of Europe?
Europe/NATO blow up Russia?

I think they will just do their business thru China & it won't be any monumental big deal for them.
Rather its going to be more a headache for those wanting or needing to buy oil/gas.

Russia doesn't want Nato on its borders. They want a neutral zone/country.
It doesn't seem like they think they can rely on the Ukrainian guy to not accept weapons that everyone is gifting, or to implement the Minsk agreements.

So they likely want a new Russian aligned government in Ukraine.
