To be clear I find it tragic that civilians are fighting. But more than that... I find it tragic that they feel they have to. That's entirely on Russia as far as I'm concerned. From any reasonable perspective it is perfectly understandable.

Would Ukraine be so worse off if they signed a peace treaty that says "we will not join NATO" hmmm.. clearly something else was promised to Ukraine and that's why they never wanted to accept this.
