Wait until the woke generation is of age to enter the political arena as politicians.
And the US, UK militaries have not done anything?

The UK put 2 brand new aircraft carriers out to sea in the same time the decades old Russian one burnt out.

UK NLAW missiles are ripping up 40 year old Russian tanks.

The US has made its 3rd new long range strike bomber that will replace the B-2, while Russia hasn't fielded a single stealth bomber to date.

I'd love to see you walk into a bar in Camp Pendleton and call the US Marines there a bunch of wokists.

Balance of power politics.

Russia cannot support a much larger territory. The USSR collapsed because it was to big.

Even the idea that Russia is trying to occupy Ukraine now is stupid.
Nobody is trying to take over the world.

A better option is that Russia recognises Ukr's sovereignty. Russia then rejoins the global system and we can all fight each other in CS or COD.

Ukraine has a land border with 4 NATO countries, so Putin invading Ukraine brings Russia closer to those 4 borders.

Hence the excuse that he doesn't want a NATO neighbour doesn't fly.

Since he stated he believes Ukraine is implicitly Russian and is now invading it, it certainly suggest he wishes Ukraine to be part of Russia.

What error in geography have I made?

no NATO member has ever directly engaged Russia in any war theatre

they're so unafraid they shy away from fights, even when Russia annexes Crimea, that's some convincing unafraidness
Has Russia ever engaged a NATO member in any war theater?

Again the myth that a Jewish head of State would give tacit support to Nazis.
So, about this...

Someone linked earlier to a dailymail article and within it was some interesting wording:

Double quoting:

"'I know that a lot of misinformation and rumors are being spread now. In particular, it is claimed that I have left Kyiv. I remain in the capital, I am staying with my people. My family is not a traitor, but a citizen of Ukraine,'"

To me, it's a little strange the way that he says that part in bold. He says I, I, then switches to My family.

It he truly cares about his family, he should ensure that they move safely to the West instead of using them as shields.

The Russian shill gang is just repeating the same nonsense over and over again.

I think they see Russia as some sort of stand in for ... I dunno. They're weak because their own country is weak? So Russia is stronk. So it's cool for Slavs to kill other Slavs.

It's just dumb.

Ahh ok. So you think this is an invasion with the intention of occupation. Makes sense now.

But no, if that was the case I am sure we would have seen a lot more force from Russia.

Edit: Feel free to quote me on this once all has gone down.

Have we considered yet what happens if this invasion is repelled?

For starters, the Russians aren’t going to be repelled back to Russia. Ukraine at best will hold their cities and hubs. Russia has been building up their logistics within Ukraine since they started to take territory, so not once do I believe that their invasion has slowed down, it goes on as per schedule, they have a new doctrine now.

The question is what are they setting out to achieve, many have theories, and Russia have many options, but whatever they are planning on doing will involve separating Ukraine.

The separatists will advance and strengthen their domain in the East, with Russia providing military aid and support, Russia takes the South and occupy the Northern and North Eastern regions, sieging the cities, coercing Ukraine into an agreement by whatever means necessary. Ukraine, though the Black Sea ports are crucial, would place emphasis on holding the West, and Kyiv (which is not in the West), but central, and attempt at repelling the Northern and North Eastern Russian positions as long as they possibly can. Ukraine will take time to deploy their reservists, and its conscripts need to be prepared, but they all will inevitably hold positions.

I can’t see how Russia will want to occupy Ukraine in the long term, it would cost them almost all their troops, and will be economically exhaustive, and they still need to protect Russia, so I don’t see this happen. They have a better chance at controlling Ukraine by installing pro-Russian puppets in the respective regions. To have a look at a 2014 illustrative map,

1280px-2014_pro-Russian_unrest_in_Ukraine.png

which could be indicative at how they will go about now, but they invaded in the North, and have already taken Sumy, moved on Chemihiv and Kiev. It can be assumed that they are planning on taking all the regions along the Dnieper, but to take Ukraine as a whole could be an ambition too high. I don't know how Russian support has since changed in Ukraine. I don't know, but this invasion could carry on, weeks, months...

It is best to wait and see what happens. Who knows, the UN could collapse, NATO could include Ukraine... but I don't believe that Russia's economic partners will come and bail them out with troops. The world is a strange place, and Russia put it on themselves not to be trusted.

So you agree, armed civilians are pointless in an armed conflict with tanks etc.
No, I don't agree.

With just an AK, you can kill. You take any weapons the fallen has. Rinse and repeat. If done intelligently and strategically, civilians can organize themselves as a force to be reckoned with that can take out a tank.

The funny thing is humans think (although you wouldn't say so, looking at this thread and some of the comments).

Have you learnt nothing from history? You've literally just flunked an open book exam where the lecturer inadvertently left the answer sheet on the first page.

They got their Mig shot down by the Turks. They complained about it. They stopped flying near Turkey because the Turks would keep on shooting them down.
