It's actually quite ironic the way the East has managed to convince some idiots that state sponsored news in countries that are openly hostile to their very way of life and every freedom they enjoy, might be more credible than the, I quote, "deep state sponsored MSM".

Just to point out that's a bit all over encompassing, you imply countries like japan or south korea are either not considered part of the "east", or do not have credible media. Those countries are definitely not the "west" as per the standard convention when using such a term. A second point to point to out, certain western media used to be considered credible but have since become heavily politicized and/or perceived to have a political agenda to prioritize news casting that illustrates and drives a certain narrative, examples being fox news and its morning show fox and friends being considered pro republican (or pro trump at least), and cnn being considered as pro democrats. The bbc is probably only news agency that is somewhat still credible in having objective news coverage (though I'm not familiar with british politics so no idea if they have any perceived political agenda in that area).

So who would be considered an objective credible news source, sky news? abc news (australia)?

Maybe putin thought ukraine was a walk in the park and decided to use older equipment instead of wasting his shiny modern equipment (would somewhat explain why the captured russian soldiers seem to be either very young people or quite old, in respect to the average age). It's like having your second/third team play the friendly in the local league while you keep the first team ready to play in the world cup championships.

An unreserved apology to anybody from the East who are not Russian, Chinese or North Korean. That was an unthinking oversight.
I personally have a fair bit of faith in the credibility of The New York Times. And I do tend to hold such up to other news sources to gauge their credibility. I actually have a subscription, and I encourage anybody who cares about getting quality news to also rather subscribe to a reliable service. Instead of just screaming angrily about what are essentially information era empowered tabloids.
Definitely Fox news is mostly deplorable, and generally don't rely on CNN at face value. Though, much as it pains me to give any credence at all to Fox News - It is likely more credible than Russian state news and Chinese state news. CNN most definitely as well.

Fortunately as a young out of high school boy in the 80's i experienced first hand what media manipulation is via the good old BBC right here in SA. Guarding and escorting them during a peaceful protest in which no violence came from any side . Only to later receive an urgent call from my parents asking if i'm ok which suprised me. The footage they've put out to world was edited with different footage from other violent protests inbetween making it seem that we where firing at protesters. As a 18yr old politics and news wasn't on my priority list ( like the majority of 18yr olds ) but this incident made me skeptical about MSM from such a young age.
