Leaving the emotions at the door, the best way to save lives is for Russia to withdraw.

If Ukraine were to demilitarize, Russia would insist on "ensuring the peace by stationing troops in key locations". Ultimately you'll have uprising that will cost lives as the media is slowly blacked out. Fast forward a few years and we have a Belarus 2.0 in Ukraine.

Russia won't just stop if Ukraine demilitarize, only pause to resupply.
Russia has never cared about lives, it cares about power.

Russia is also tired of all the double standards while at the same time it is perfectly willing to exploit this.

Russia will work towards whatever it takes to ensure that Ukraine is a permanent buffer territory.

It's all perfectly simple. Whether anyone agrees with Russia or not is irrelevant at this point, it's patience is up.

Or at least that is my assessment of the situation.

It does not make sense, the left and the right is all mixed up. Its like the left has gone so far left that it has gone full circle and became right. I am not left at all and I am with Ukraine 100%. Not because of Nazis but because I have Ukrainian friends, and they are not Nazis, just good people. This is "wingers" vs "Nazis" there is no place for the left. Neither 1 is leftist today. Leftist is BLM, EFF. Nazis as well as Putin are their enemies.
The supporters of Putin in this thread are primarily Christian nationalists who would be categorised as hard right. Christian nationalist groups from around the world have for a number of years found common cause with Putin.

Might be some interesting results if it were to go to poll.

This said, turning a topic of war into one of religion seems a bit silly to me personally.

EDIT: I honestly don't think many if any people actually support Putin. Myself, misunderstood the entire situation at first but it is much clearer now. I have always been trying to highlight the ridiculous propaganda and that there are two sides to every story and it's no different in this one.

Ironsky Man and Kaptain Russia - not going to happen

Russians are heavily reliant on television still. Or at least the government thinks so and they control the media broadcasted to their citizens.

It’s part of the reason for the back fire on Putin. His disconnection from reality is why he’s surprised by the overwhelming backlash.

Well that goes two ways, no one has posted much about what is going on back home in Russia?

For the most part, we have little to no idea...

Hijacking this a bit
"1. We have for the past years 13 000- 15 000 Russian speaking people in Ukraine who have been killed by Ukraine. Many have been gang raped, goods looted. Honestly, no nation like Russia can accept that type of situation"
--Now imagine England having this view of the world...
Depends on demographics and location. If SA gets much worse I can see how they send "peacekeeping" occupation forces to "help".

"Civil deaths are few and it seems that Kiev citizens are now been armed and are looting the city"
--Is this your opinion?
No, when they threw open the armouries all the criminal elements helped themselves. Now they are sorting out their hierarchies and having a hell of a time. Imagine what would happen in SA if this happened here.

Nationalist? As opposed to globalist.

What is that even.

I am sure some have fallen into the trap but I can assure you.... lack of condemnation does not equal support.

I for one don't trust Putin and count him as a potential enemy rather than ally. Does not mean I won't be fair and admit when he has a point.

Pretty much, and if you try to view things from the Russian perspective then you've got a Putin poster on your wall. Which is really just, nuts...

I mean, according to the folks here i'm a Putin bot, Russian paid, got the poster, i can't remember what else but it's been quite amusing watching people go round in circles with it

Does he have a point though? Interesting thread here says no, he has orchestrated the whole thing and you are falling for it…

“We failed to acknowledge Russia had staged a military attack on the West. We called it "meddling". We used words like "interference". It wasn't. It was warfare. We've been under military attack for eight years now.”

You're going to have to come with more than Twitter news to get me involved in conversation.
