Sanctions against Russian energy sector can destabilize global markets — White House

That doesn't mean that they are off the table, Jen Psaki noted

WASHINGTON, March 1. /TASS/. The US Administration recognizes that sanctions on the Russian energy sector can lead to destabilization of global markets but does not rule out such measures, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at the briefing.
"We very much weigh is maximizing the impact on President Putin, the Russian elite, the economy, while minimizing it on the global markets and the American people," Psaki said.
"We have not taken some steps on energy sanctions, in part because we weighed that. That doesn't mean that they are off the table," she noted. "They remain on the table, but Europeans, for example, are very concerned about further price spikes on gas in particular, their prices have gone up 335% over the last three yes over the last year and 26% over the last five days. So sanctioning energy would affect Russia's income stream. Certainly that would be a reason to do it. But it would also have extreme consequences on the world energy markets, particularly for our allies in Europe," Psaki added.
"So I use that as an example because we have to weigh all of the factors as we weigh whether to take additional steps. We have additional steps we could take but we consider all of those factors as we make determination," the press secretary added.

In other words their SWIFT sanctioning left it open.

It's a general military term... when bombs fly poop happens.

I don't see why you feel the need to explain the obvious to me.

You seem a bit upset too.....

I am. seeing people dying needlessly and in shocking circumstances does that to me. But then again, I don't try to justify it by using sanitary terms.

It still amazes me that people still think war does not have collateral damage because of technological advances.... in WW2 the allies saved Europe by doing much worse damage.

The Allies were not trying to save Germany/Japan when they reduced them to dust.

Russia's claim is that it is trying to save Russians in Ukraine.

Very different.

There is no justification.... just acceptance of reality.

You are moralizing everything and I am not. The rock does not care about the ant it falls on..... nor does the boot that kicks it.

Now if we return to the good old days where entire cities were slaughtered because they put up resistance? Then you would have a point.

I prefer to not bi-h and whine as if my jumping up and down actually accomplishes anything more than catharsis..... there is no rational reason for you to get upset about that.

I was speaking of the rest of Europe. It was not just Germany that the marshall plan was for.

Thanks, i think its still a few days from falling but we will have to wait and see. Russia's push from the South has been the most effective so far and its Ukraine's weakest front.
The mayor seems staunchly resolute and ready to fight.

God speed with these defenders.
