Have asked that question multiple times as to what threat Ukraine ever was to Russia or how they supposedly provoked Russia....? Crickets from the apologists.
Well if you just ignore the answer all the time.

Got a question for everyone here: Lets say the UN was actually an effective organisation, and it said that it would organise a UN controlled free and fair referendum on the matter of independence from Ukraine in the three regions that are under conflict at the moment.
Conditions for this referendum:
1) Russia must unilaterally withdraw from all the areas under conflict.
2) There must be a ceasefire for 5 years to establish some level of normalcy such that society can start functioning again.
3) After 5 years of peace, the UN organises elections that observers from Ukraine, Russia, the EU, Africa and so on can ensure is free and fair, on the matter of independence in each region. The referendum must contain a constitution based on the UN declaration of rights that must be adopted if the referendum passes in order for it to be recognised by the UN.

Who would support this and who would be against this? (Say yay or nay in reply)

Russian Defense Ministry warns about strikes being prepared on military sites in Kiev

In order to thwart informational attacks against Russia, Russian forces will strike technological objects of the SBU and the 72nd Main PSO Center, the ministry informed

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Russian forces will strike objects of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the 72nd Center for Information and Psychological Operations (PSO) in Kiev, Russian Defense Ministry warned Tuesday.

"In order to thwart informational attacks against Russia, [Russian forces] will strike technological objects of the SBU and the 72nd Main PSO Center in Kiev. We urge Ukrainian citizens involved by Ukrainian nationalists in provocations against Russia, as well as Kiev residents living near relay stations, to leave their homes," the Ministry said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that, in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics, he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure. There are no threats whatsoever to the civilian population.

Please note who have I quoted.

Everything. What purpose would fake news from the likes of CNN have, if not to fsck with the gullible?

The same purpose as the fake news you believe from other sources.

I guess I'm confused why you'd believe something is fake out of hand because it comes from a certain news channel, but unflinchingly accept the same thing is true because it comes from some unverified source?

Hopefully they keep the nukes on ice.

ICBMs can reach a top speed around 10 minutes after launch which could see one fired from Russia reach the UK in just 20 minutes.

Defence expert General Sir Richard Barrons told Sky News: "President Putin has raised the stakes - he's started to insinuate nuclear weapons at a global level.

"This means the sort of equipment [like] an intercontinental ballistic missile - that means it reaches from Russia to the US and obviously into Europe.

"The warhead at the front of it has a yield of between 300 and 800 kilotonnes [of TNT equivalent].

"Three hundred kilotonnes is enough to destroy Washington or London or Paris.

An intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) is a missile with a minimum range of 5,500 kilometres

Distance To Moscow From Windhoek is:
5546 miles / 8925.42 km

Phew! Thank Fok! Wanted to braai the weekend! :whistling:

Foreign membership in Azov battalion

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Azov Battalion's extremist politics and professional English social media pages have attracted foreign fighters,[31] including people from Brazil, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Greece, Scandinavia,[6][31] Spain, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Russia.[6][63][64] About 50 Russian nationals are members of the Azov regiment.[65] The group has used Facebook to recruit far-right individuals from other countries within Europe.[66] In 2019, under Facebook's Dangerous Individuals and Organizations policy, support for the group was not allowed,[67] although this was temporarily relaxed during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.[68]

Around 20 Croatians joined the Azov Battalion in January 2015, ranging in age from 20 to 45.[69][70] After Croatia's foreign minister Vesna Pusić confirmed that there are Croatian volunteers in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry called Croatia to withdraw its citizens from armed conflict. Pusić replied that Croatia opposes any involvement of Croatian citizens in the war, and stated that they went on their private initiative and that Croatia is working on bringing them home.[71] Interior minister Ranko Ostojić said that Croatian volunteers are fighting on the side of the legitimate Ukrainian government and are not committing any kind of crime according to Croatian law.[72]

Swedish Azov volunteers Mikael Skillt and "Mikola"
In late 2016, Brazilian investigators uncovered an alleged plot to recruit Brazilian far-right activists for the Azov Battalion.[73][74]

Members of the American neo-nazi terrorist group Atomwaffen Division have also joined the Azov Battalion.[75][76][77]

So... The single largest foreign component of the Azov battalion are Russian nationals. And many Russian Nazis have been very active in the DPR (separatist Donesk People's Republic ). On whose behalf Putin invaded Ukraine.

This invasion is about many things. But not The Minsk agreements.
Not missiles in Poland.
Not NATO.
Not the US.
And not about Nazis.

To be clear I would be extremely happy to see an end of Nazism, but it is NOT what this invasion is about. These are all just smoke and mirrors.

Abstained. The UN would never be able to apply these conditions to the separatists, so the 'crisis' aka proxy war would continue regardless, with the separatists denying their actions. Unless the UN elects to deploy more than one neutral watchdog to the respective regions who have to audit and report back on the situation, and even this will be open to manipulation.

The Russia 'military' may withdraw, but I doubt the 'support' to the separatists will be withdrawn. A rudimentary, and interim, remedy would be to establish a rather large demilitarised zone, but that would displace people. The last thing which should happen is a wall being build...

Regardless, those conditions will be broken, and reinterpreted as it has been over 8 years whoever the guilty party at any time.

They have been trying to join nato for the past 15 years and actively threatened Russia.
Biden and even Trump have been using Ukraine as a puppet against Russia.
It was coming, the victim mentality from Ukraine is an overreaction and mass hysteria is a catalyst for bigger things to come.
Ukraine is not completely innocent in all this.

One thing is certain in my mind.

Russia should not at this time be a member of the UN security council.
The invasion of a fellow UN member state is already stretching it's credibility as far as UN global security is concerned.
The moves to put nukes in Belarus absolutely shatters it.

Whatever else. I hope the ICC investigation and eventual ruling can achieve this.
