I don't know these things but what's their total debt to GDP? Is the direct comparison of debt a fair matrix to use...because if that's the case, then ZA is doing better than the US. Someone educate me.
Interesting question, seems it is hard to find comparable data points but I guess it's just the difference in how they report the figures. Here is one site that offers a bit of a comparison in terms of forecasts:

Zelenskyy urges sanctions if West certain of Russian invasion: 'Won't help once they are there'

Ukraine President Zelenskyy acknowledged, likely for the first time, that a full-scale Russian invasion may soon occur and urged action from the West.

The United States and European allies have threatened Russia with economic sanctions should it take any military action in Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has urged the West to take action now if officials believe intelligence that suggests Russia may attack at any time in the next few days.

"It won't help once they are there," Zelenksyy said during the Munich Security Conference.

Zelenskyy should know by now that the Democrats in the US are full-blown Socialists and communist supporters. If Biden want to place Sanctions on Russia to stop this from happening, he would have done so long ago and not simply wait until an invasion happens. The US has no interest in stopping Russia, either out of fear or mutual interest in Communist advancement.

Was this a verbal agreement, or an actual signed treaty between the states?

The minutes of a March 6, 1991 meeting in Bonn between political directors of the foreign ministries of the US, UK, France, and Germany contain multiple references to “2+4” talks on German unification in which the West made it “clear” to the Soviet Union that NATO will not expand past the eastern borders of Germany.

“We made it clear to the Soviet Union – in the 2+4 talks, as well as in other negotiations – that we do not intend to benefit from the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Eastern Europe,” the document quotes US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe Raymond Seitz.

“NATO should not expand to the east, either officially or unofficially,” Seitz added.

Pelosi, Democratic lawmakers hold press conference in Munich amid heightened Russian aggression toward Ukraine

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is leading a press conference at the Munich Security Conference in Germany Saturday morning amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

Pelosi will be joined by House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., and Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn. The group is on a congressional delegation to the Munich Security Conference.

Almost the whole of the Democrat party is now in Munich. Likely to support their Comrades in Russia.

No argument there. That one belongs to the US.
Dropping the nukes with the foreknowledge Japan was about to surrender wasn't that nice though.

Japan had effectively rejected the peace terms outlined at Potsdam, nearly two weeks before Hiroshima. The US, along with Britain and China, were not going to entertain a negotiated surrender. Japan then tried to work through Stalin, but the Soviets were not at war with Japan and in no position to influence the US who were now war-weary in the Pacific.

Japan had not surrendered after a vicious firebombing campaign (the firebombing of Tokyo was worse than either of the nukes, btw); war fatigue was hitting the US back home and the closer the US got to the Japanese home islands the higher their casualty rates climbed. The US was done and wanted to end the war ASAP.

What? Which half of the EU aren't democracies?

I somehow don't think Thor knows what the EU is.

sure, Bulgaria, Czech, Croatia , Slovakia, Romania etc

Are equal to the UK and the rest of the western world in ideology

The EU cannot work, sounds good on paper, terrible real-world track record.

Ukraine is a very tempting target for a Russian takeover

Tremendous ore reserves, 300 billion tons of iron ore, largest uranium deposits in the world, natural gas, best black soil in the world, can supply food for 600 million people

This would enhance Russia’s balance of payments and negate any penalties levied by Western nations.

If that part is accurate it highlights just how unproductive the old Soviet communist regime was, that resulted in the Holodomor
