now laugh at the fact that those historical bits of Kiev ... was Russia at the time, all those structures? built by Russia, Ukraine itself did not exist until 1917
Don't confuse the Kiev Rus with Russia. What is Russia today was originally the Grand Duchy of Moscow. The state was renamed Russia when Ivan the terrible was crown Tsar.

Those structures you claim as Russian where built under the rulership of the Czars, you know, the rulers your beloved country executed in 1917?

Amazed not to see anything in NCA yet.

‘Invasion of Ukraine has begun,’ UK minister says, as Putin orders troops into breakaway regions

And (if this is a reliable site)

Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Kyiv's Military Reports 2 Soldiers Killed, 12 Wounded In Shelling

So far just the pro-Russian Ukrainian East, but the Ukrainian soldiers were allegedly killed by pro-Russian rebels. If this is true and not missing context then the pro-Russia rebels and ultimately Russia will go down as to have started the war.
Al this to get the oil price up, to make more money.

Remember when the Ukrainian President (pro NATO) said this (28 January 2022)

‘We don’t have a Titanic here’: Ukraine plays down threat of Russian invasion

“Do we have tanks on the streets? No,” he said. Hyped media reports were causing panic in the financial sector, damaging the “purse” of Ukrainians, and depleting Ukraine’s gold reserves and currency, he said.

The US believes the threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine next month remains real. The US ambassador in Moscow, John Sullivan, has said a Kremlin operation could be imminent, citing the extraordinary buildup of Russian troops at the border.

Zelenskiy has previously pointed out that Ukraine has been at war for nearly eight years, since Vladimir Putin annexed Crimea in 2014 and started a separatist conflict in the Donbas region in the east.

Russia wants the US to veto Ukraine’s future membership of Nato, and for Nato to remove its troops from eastern Europe, including from Romania and Bulgaria. The US has rejected the demand, which in effect seeks to re-establish a cold war-style zone of Russian influence in former Warsaw Pact countries.

On Friday Ukraine’s defence minister, Oleksiy Reznikov, said 112,000 Russian servicemen were on the border, with the number increasing to about 130,000, including navy and aviation personnel.

Reznikov said the deployment was no bigger than last April, when Russia dispatched 126,000 troops. The reaction from the international community was “disproportionate”, he told the Rada.

(On 18/2/22: Russia has amassed up to 190,000 troops on the borders with Ukraine, the US warned on Friday, claiming it was “the biggest mobilisation of troops since the second world war” and an increase of more than 90,000 in less than a month.)

I think more context is needed.

The original Slavs were pushed east but waves of Asian invasion, Scandinavians (Rus) were invited to help fight especially on the eastern side. Eventually the Rus of Moscow became dominant and founded the first strong Russian state which eventually expelled the invaders and in the process became an expansionist empire.

Aside from this you have the Slavs being the original inhabitants of the general area with the original real civilization being founded on the western side by the Romans when they annexed the area, the flow of history (including the shift of the Byzantine mantel) is to blame for the gradual shift of the centre of Russian civilization eastward from the original Roman province.

What people miss is that there are multiple races as well as ethnicities inhabiting Russia not just one. For me an interesting bit is a lot of the satalite states originally were formed by mass peasent migrations away from corrupt Rus Noble influence.... which is where the fighting started once Russia decided to forcibly annex it's "lost sheep".

A lot of this can be explained as a more than millenium long racial conflict that never got resolved due to Russia being forced (either through circumstance or programmed habit) to fight all the time rather than develop. They were essentially THE buffer state for Europe against Asia... and ironically they never stopped fighting Europe as well.... lovely folks really.

EDIT: I happen to have read on the broad history recently BTW and am still digesting it.

While its not secret i'm rather Pro-USA, I think when it comes to tactics, smoke and mirrors, deception and accomplishing a goal through pretense, Putin is running circles around NATO, USA and their allies.

He's not stupid at all. Mad? Probably. But certainly not stupid when it comes to getting what he's actually after. Even if its a smaller piece of the big pie he would like.
