I wonder if you can go into specialized fields such as IT.
I also wonder if you have a degree and you join via this program you become a officer.
I know that security clearance is out unless you are a citizan.

if you cant do the above you are cannon fodder.

I'd rather fight against terrorists than sit here in SA without a weapon and be powerless with everything happening here. I'll agree with you the day the ANC loses the election and SA is truely free.

Currently as much as I love SA and it's people that is not the case.

I'm more than willing to go to hell so my children and my wife can live a truly free life.

Rather join the German army. Worst case scenario you get sent to northern Afghanistan where you can sit back, reflex and get overweight

What are you doing to make a change yourself? Seriously.
We 'Saffers' seem to expect change to just happen here. It sucks to have all the kark we deal with but small things like starting a community watch so your kids can play safely in the park is one. Volunteering etc. Yes the ANC might win again and yes the majority of voters are a bit blind but you don't build a country overnight. 80% of SA's population was excluded from 'normal' society...of cause there'll be teething problems when trying to integrate everyone into one country.

Yes in an ideal country we would just pay our taxes and watch it being used correctly...but this is what SA's previous leaders have left us. We have a kark history and legacy...and to have come out of it without a civil war is something.

But thats just my opinion, we're all entitled to our own and to do what we think is best for our futures and our family.

You just assume I don't do anything

bla bla 80% bla bla bla.

This country is fk'd as 90% of the population are to thick headed to see what is happening. The ANC will get 2/3's and change the constitution once again. Via SA, Via ANC  So much for this country being truly free.

Actually the weapon hardware is on your side. The chance of a U.S service member dying in Iraq or Afghanistan is minimal compared to other wars

I'm so skinny that even if they hit me it would still be a near-miss :p Maybe I should look into it. At the very least my IT skills and qualifications might keep me out of the direct line of fire ;)

Ja, but the FFL are super hardcore.

I don't fancy hunting a crocodile in Djibouti with chopsticks as initiation...

:)

Yep, rusted nails and acid for morning porridge, and they toss a couple of grenades in their curry to spice it up a bit :p At least that's what I heard.

Now I think about it, it may have been a tad exaggerated :D

I sent them a e-mail a few years ago asking about the famous 'green card' and it took the US army 3 weeks to reply - I had already forgotten about it.

I got the e-mails from my girlfriend who deals with the US Embassy regularly (trips for her boss etc)

:)

Geez, when I finished my service in SA, they answered me within a couple of hours!
