Yes that, except then it started being used by real people in obvious trolling attempts - like Zina Bash, and this coastguard cretin. Once again, from the video it's more than clear that the gesture was intentional. And even if his intention was just "let's troll liberals by making them think I'm a white supremacist", is that any better?

So sure, it's just one enormous gaslighting troll; it doesn't mean it's not a real thing.
She has a nice tan. Are we sure that she is white?

So, someone clearly communicating with her, in response she mouths 'ooooohhhh' while giving the okay sign.... Indeed, this is it, the evidence needed, this 'ok' racism is clearly a real thing and out of control

No it's not. If I tried to stop black power movements, I would be called a racist.

Im sure you would have been called all sorts of things if you tried to stop white power movements 100 years ago, doesn't mean much really.

Which is exactly the kind of response I detailed above.

/Right-wing trolls react to media outrage by talking about how oppressive and hysterical the left-wing have become that they can even take something as innocent as an OK gesture and turn it into racism, they just see racism everywhere, see the left are the REAL oppressors of free speech.

That's what makes it such an effective troll. No matter how obvious the person makes it that they're doing precisely what you think they're doing - by looking directly into the camera, flashing the sign out of nowhere, then pulling back - it's just barely ambiguous enough that if you point it out, you get to be called a lunatic.

Thankfully, the coastguard aren't nearly as tolerant of this kind of BS as online forums.

Ah trolling then, its either that or moronic comments, pretty much the extent you can offer up to this forum.

Again, go back and read post 185. You started by quoting me to on a response to Cerebus. You ignore that after you actually supplied that post. And then go rambling on about later posts. I think you're simple "oops a I farked up" defense of claiming me to be trolling will not work this time :D

Which is exactly the response it deserves.
How is anything she doing in that clip connected to anything racist, nazi, etc etc? How can you honeslty look at it and use it as an example of some kind of 'ok' conspiracy?

God you're thick, i was having two separate conversations, one with you and one with Splinter. You quoted one of my posts with Splinter which i pointed out to you and here we are with you looking like an idiot once again.

That post I just made.

The OK hand gesture is obviously not only used by racists, it's completely innocuous outside of the present, poisonous social media context. It has however been explicitly co-opted by racists, and there's plenty of documented evidence to show that.

OK
/this forum needs an OK emoji, I have a great idea for one.

Thick now am I?

Shame, just wipe that blood of your nose. It's not that bad. You and I have been having that discussion already from post 185... I think we can all see who the thick on in here is can't we Unhappy438?

So sure, it's just one enormous gaslighting troll; it doesn't mean it's not a real thing.

Zina Bash was unfairly attacked for her hand gesture as per the photo you posted. She then went on to troll the media because of the unfair and unrelenting attacks. She is making fun of the entire incident, because it's not a real thing. The sign is a complete troll, which talks to how sensitive (under the guise of political correctness) people have become, and how easy it is to get people to jump on the racial bandwagon. We really make issues out of non-issues, which causes further divide and devalues real incidents of discrimination and racism.

People's offense is literally giving this innocuous sign meaning. What is funny is that a troll's greatest weapon lies in weaponising anger. Being offended by such silly signs is what they want. If this offends you, what won't you be offended by?

There is an OK sign conspiracy unfortunately, that's not a made up thing. It's bizarre and pathetic, but it does exist.

https://medium.com/s/story/does-the-ok-sign-actually-signify-white-power-or-what-6cf3309df985
https://lifehacker.com/is-this-an-innocent-ok-sign-or-a-white-power-symbol-1825575794

But whether or not the OK sign ever actually meant “I’m a white supremacist,” in the hands of a Trump supporter, it now means “I’m OK with you thinking I’m a white supremacist, for the sake of a joke.” That’s a bad look. It’s pretty hard to insist you’re not racist when you are trying to trick people into thinking you’re racist.

Nazis have always taken an interest in occult symbols, like the black sun, or the swastika. But more obscure symbols can be useful as a kind of secret handshake that lets Nazis recognize each other without normies taking notice. The best symbols to use for this purpose are ones that are not primarily associated with fascism, or at least have some other meaning, such as the othala rune, or the iron cross. Better still are symbols that, until adoption by fascists, are completely innocuous. Modern fascists have taken to using almost arbitrary emoji as a way to wink and nod at each other, notably the frog, after Pepe, the milk, and the OK sign.
