Covid patients can go from mildly ill to requiring ventilation in a matter of hours.

Last night his breathing was clearly laboured though he tried his best to conceal it and look healthy.

The White House is now being turned into a biohazard site due to Trump's refusal to wear a mask.

Sorry, but you are wrong. You can die due to the complication from Covid without underlying conditions. That is what is referred to as "pure Covid", but this percentage is relatively small (6%). This as opposed to aids which put simplistically undermines your immune system.

It's not that simple a decision when you are dealing with a patient who is busy suffocating to death.

With flu patients that are so far gone they need a ventilator, the rule of thumb has become: once he goes on the ventilator he never goes off the ventilator. This is true because of the damage the machine does to the lungs, the only way forward becomes a lung transplant.

I can tell you categorically the decision to use mechanical ventilation is not taken lightly, and usually in conjunction with family consent.
For the most part, patients requiring ventilation, if not placed on ventilation, will usually die.
One final intervention after ventilation is ecmo.
For those requiring ecmo, and not receiving it, rapid onset of death is an absolute certainty.

Both interventions are high risk and fraught with complications, but to call ventilators death machines is absurd.

True which also means that the virus was mostly as deadly as it was due to it being novel. The fatality rate has declined considerably since the beginning of the pandemic because the treatments became more effective.
I'm glad Trump could be used as a guinea-pig for the medication
