The three liberal justices dissent, the six pro-life justices demand blood sacrifice.

I think comparing the death penalty with abortion is stupid. For example, an unborn child hasn't raped and murdered someone, like this charming individual has:
He was sentenced to death for the 1994 kidnapping, rape, and murder of 16-year-old Lisa Rene -- an honor roll student with dreams of becoming a doctor. The US Supreme Court sided with the Justice Department on Hall's execution.
Hall and several accomplices ran a marijuana trafficking operation in Arkansas in 1994, according to a Department of Justice statement. After a failed drug transaction involving $4,700, they drove to Texas to the home of the man they believed had stolen their money.
The man's 16-year-old sister, Lisa Rene, was home and refused to let them inside, the statement said. Although she had no connection with the drug transaction, the men broke into the apartment, kidnapped her at gunpoint and fled in a car to an Arkansas motel.
Rene was repeatedly raped in the car and at the motel. When Hall realized she knew too much, the statement said, he and his accomplices took her to a park where they had dug a grave. They beat her with a shovel, then buried her alive, according to the statement.

All an unborn child has done to deserve being killed is to have done the audacious thing of being an inconvenience to its mother.

The challenges the applicant is raising are pretty disgusting, even for someone like me who is actually against the death penalty:

The court of appeals also erred by rejecting Plaintiffs’ argument that in the context of severe bodily harm, a concrete risk that Plaintiffs would suffer extraordinary pain and suffering is sufficient to show irreparable harm
The guy who raped a woman and beat her to death is now worried about suffering extraordinary pain and suffering, cry me a river.

Even with insight into the psychology, it remains breathtakingly jarring to see in action and a little frightening once it becomes apparent there appear to be no limits to what a core group of people are willing to accept.

They are willing to accept it because it fits their narrow world view.

There is nothing to see here apart from fear. Fear of the other, fear of change, fear of a complex universe that doesn't bend to suit a conservative set of (theocratic) rules.

These people are like children, believe in fairies and afraid of the dark.

I know a fairly wealthy, otherwise perfectly intelligent individual who can't resist a conspiracy theory.
Anything. HAARP, Chem-trails, Roswell, Hollow Earth. You name it. He'll believe them even if they are contradictory.
It's some sort of addiction maybe. Who knows for sure?

I used a figure of speech... I didn't compare the death penalty to anything, you just did.

Also, where did I say or imply he should be pardoned? He's guilty and should serve life... as in his *whole* life.

Now run along and carry on that screaming match we're having... In your head.

Try and tell any progressives that human beings are a sexually reproducing species.

Yes you did, you use the term "pro-life" judge. That is comparing the death penalty to abortion.

And I never said you said he should be pardoned. I would want a piece of $hyte like that to rot in prison for the rest of his life.

Oh, I get it now... I’m pro choice which means I can’t be against the death penalty because abortion is murder or something, something. Amirite?

Weird how it doesn’t work like that.

At all.

Also weird how most conservatives are exactly the opposite but that doesn’t seem unreasonable to y’all.

At all.

Of course trump will probably end up getting his dick stuck in it, because he doesn't know how it works and tends to screw anything that moves.
From what Stormy said, that's not physically possible.

All I said is that comparing the two issues, as you did, is silly.

It is at least a consistent rule based on what people have developed over thousands of years: killing people = wrong, unless if they have done something to deserve it.

I don't see the pro-choice thing and pro-life thing as being two opposite sides though.

Trying to get my head around the bolded part.

You saying, under certain circumstances it should be the woman's decision?

Is that what's going on here?

It is always up to a woman's decision. The decision I am talking about is the decision that a woman makes to have sex with a man. Once she makes that decision, she is bound by any consequences that arise from said decision.
This is the same rule that applies to men. If a man decides to have sex with a woman, it is perfectly fair to expect him to pay for any child that results from his actions.

And society actually does give woman an out after that, it is perfectly legal to give a child up for adoption if she doesn't want it. That is a privilege that isn't granted to men with regards to the paying for the upkeep of said child.

It is when the decision wasn't made by choice where abortion starts being justifiable. Rape for example is not someone choice, hence holding them bound by its consequences is wrong. Same thing if there is danger to the mother's life.
