As per Cyril they had no info prior to the release from the US embassy
The US embassy stance on the matter is isolated to US citizens in the country and by that excluding the citizens of SA
That minister in the presidency guy implied the US embassy shared the alert with them but wouldn't provide backing evidence when asked.

Hope the US didn't get the wrong place - it looks brand new.

They have a point, if the US are interested in helping and saving lives, why not co operate with government and the police

They did. They warned the SA Int services. Someone at Int forgot to send the info to the Union buildings. Now they blame the Yanks to save face.

From Impala, Post #250. From the paywalled news 24 article:

An impeccable source close to the State Security Agency (SSA) told News24 that the spook outfit was given information by their American counterparts, but neglected to include it in intelligence products, and had cut their political principal, Minister Mondli Gungubele, out of the loop.

It is understood that none of the weekly briefing documents sent to the Union Buildings included these alerts.

The source said that SSA operatives were "scrambling" to gather intelligence, adding that peace talks between warring parties in the Tigray region of Ethiopia currently underway in Pretoria could have been a potential target.

The problem here is priorities and timing.

If a threat is imminent while an investigation would take a few weeks ...

I suspect the threat is gone now.

So the spy from the SSA told N24 that chose not to warn the president

They finally identified the threat. Someone is going to enter the Sandtown school with 600 rounds of communication and an AR-15. Only problem is Sandtown is in Georgia and Sandton is in Gauteng. Anyone can make that mistake.
What are 600 rounds of communication?
