US Government warns SA stakeholders to start making plans for Eskom grid collapse, even if unlikely

Strictly speaking what could cause a grid collapse would be something like all communications going down at Eskom's control center. Them not being able to tell anyone how much power to cut off demand is the only way I could see it happening.

There's automatic failsafes if that happens, power gets cut to prevent collapse...hopefully.

Lets just thank our lucky stars because if it ever does go black, I have zero faith in them starting it again.

If that ever happens, you best have a firearm and lots of ammo, bottled water and emergency rations.

They will start looting shops and businesses. Some easy target homes after that. I didn't forget what happened last year during their looting. We had to do unspeakable things to stop them and keep our area safe.

I will adopt the "the best defence is a good offence" strategy and strike first and go straight to my nearest squatter camp and wipe them out.

i think america is just overreacting. i mean, we do have loadshedding right now until 12:30ish, and our water has also been cut now for some unknown reason, but i think they're still just panicking over nothing.
Ha ha! So you're saying "don't believe the experts I have a feeling it will be ok". I wonder if you know how regularly this precedes massive disasters

From the guys who bought you the Sandton bombings…
Here's something for you to think about: Gauteng is largely (Jhb fully) situated about 50 meters above it's water supply. All water gets pumped uphill. With Eskom power.
Add to this that humans die after about 3 days without water.

Usually reservoirs are on higher areas. Is this mostly not the case there?

Think they talking about the Vaal dam is lower than the city.
Yes, water gets pumped from bulk water schemes to reservoirs that serve the neighbourhoods. They are usually located higher, so they can still supply water.

Yes, so when there is no power, the reservoirs get empty, hence the water restrictions.

These are things that we have considered a long time ago already. Together with traffic chaos, no fuel, no cash (let alone any means to purchase anything).

Security and law enforcement is going to have a nightmare. The general populace of SA is very opportunistic, and will in all likelyhood start looting and plundering way before the problem becomes a life and death situation.

Stop talking kak they've got Billions in commercial interests here, the only "lovers causing anarchy and chaos" is your tjommies in the ANC.
And the fact that they want even more billions doesn't ring alarm bells?
