US hits Russia with sanctions over election hacks

Oh please, cmon, the US needs to grow up. If Russia really did hack them, where's the evidence? They need to kindly provide the world with evidence before making decisions that's not in the interest of anybody. If Russia is really behind these hacks, then it's not exactly gonna stop them.

US has already said that they would provide this information.

Mr Obama also announced the US will declassify technical information related to Russian cyber activity to "help network defenders in the United States and abroad identify, detect, and disrupt Russia's global campaign of malicious cyber activities".

Why do they need to provide anyone with evidence, it is entirely up to them if they decide to implement sanctions? No country is required to trade with any other country, they owe the world sweet FA...

They're not required, but it's counterproductive. If Russia really was behind these hacks, sanctions won't change anything. If anything, it makes matters worse.

Why do they need to provide evidence? When you make such serious claims that another sovereign nation is responsible for interference in the elections of another sovereign nation, then you need to back up your claims or shut up (referring to the US or any country in such a situation really). The USA has tried to be the policeman of the world and has forced their flavour of democracy upon others. They need to be held accountable for their statements and actions - they've been playing the "blame game" too long. First China was the scapegoat, now Russia...it's always nice to have someone to blame when things don't go your way.

Not to mention the cyber attacks the USA has/will conduct against Russia as retaliation isn't defensive but offensive. That's not setting a great example, and you end up attacking another country's infrastructure without 1. A Security Council meeting and 2. Proof of said initial attack. Even if Russian hackers was responsible (how they're going to conclusively proof that remains to be seen - it's not as easy as looking at surveillance footage and spotting the Russian flag), it by no means proves the Kremlin is responsible either.

Yebo....and Russia has brics to continue on

They need a little more time to fabricate the "evidence" ;)

This from the same government that was caught bugging Angela Merkel's secure government phone. Pathetic.

100%

The man claiming that Russia hacked the election is the same guy who said the nsa wasn't spying .jpg Claims Russia meddled in foreign affairs while meddling in foreign affairs.jpg

****ing Russiand Hackers.jpg

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but if Russia is guilty of something, it's guilty of exposing the DNC as corrupt and manipulative. The hackers exposed stuff, they didn't make it up. If someone influences your election by showing how bad you are, aren't you actually highlighting how bad you are when you make a song and dance out of it?

US has already said that they would provide this information

Which was just a metaphor for they will release a bunch of information of how they believe the alleged hack worked without any link to Russia:

Oh, good. Then they can close their doors to refugees from dodgy shytholes.

It's all bollocks. Smoke and mirrors to divert eyes from the real problems they caused themselves. It has nothing to do with Russia but same as Iraq WOMD it just doesn't exist.

Speaking to the Jewish Press about the January 25, 2006, election for the second Palestinian Legislative Council (the legislature of the Palestinian National Authority), Clinton weighed in about the result, which was a resounding victory for Hamas (74 seats) over the U.S.-preferred Fatah (45 seats).

“I do not think we should have pushed for an election in the Palestinian territories. I think that was a big mistake,” said Sen. Clinton. “And if we were going to push for an election, then we should have made sure that we did something to determine who was going to win.”

Chomsky recalls being taken aback that “anyone could support the idea—offered by a national political leader, no less—that the U.S. should be in the business of fixing foreign elections.”

US hits Russia with sanctions over election hacks

The United States has expanded its sanctions on Russia for cyber attacks that resulted in the leak of Democratic Party emails during the country’s recent elections, Reuters reported.

Come now Kevin...

It's not about the Hacks, don't be part of the false news brigade.
It's about their Ambassadors being harassed in Russia. Obama is throwing in the "hacks" thing just because he can. They have ZERO proof of any hacking and even loss of it being Russia.

Agreed

Ok, so lets say Russia hacked the US, was it the hack that caused the election to be lost, or was it more the info that was leaked in the so called hack? If the DNC was not so corrupt maybe more people would have voted for them. So this whole blaming and going after Russia about the hack is only a ploy to divert the attention from the content that was found or exposed in the hack itself.
