US networks give customers uncapped data to work from home

AT&T Inc. and Comcast Corp. are loosening up restrictions on internet plans as they deal with a surge in Americans working from home and pressure from regulators.

AT&T lifted some data caps on broadband services, while Comcast said Friday it would make its Xfinity Wi-Fi hot spots free for everyone. Comcast, the biggest cable company, also said it was “pausing” its data plan, meaning customers will get unlimited data for no additional charge.

To help students as schools close and classes move online, the FCC also should use its subsidy programs to supply schools with Wi-Fi hot spots so homebound pupils can connect to lessons and teachers
o_O o_O In order to use a wi-fi hotspot, you have to be in the immediate vicinity.
