There is a line between under and over tax, just as its possible to over tax its also possible to under tax. The point where reducing taxes further doesn't actually simulate growth or help the majority of the country in anyway.
There's nothing like undertaxing. People are better at capital allocation than the government.

White House to cancel Times, Post subscriptions after Trump's 'Hannity' comments

The White House said Tuesday it will not be renewing subscriptions to The New York Times and The Washington Post, two papers the president frequently attacks as “fake” and which he suggested canceling the previous night in a TV appearance.

Monday on Fox News’ “Hannity,” President Donald Trump called the Times “a fake newspaper” and said “we don’t even want it in the White House anymore.”

“We’re going to probably terminate that and The Washington Post,” Trump said. “They’re fake.”

Bernie is proposing tax increases not for everyone, but for the top 1%. Also, in a well-functioning society, like the US, there's a quid pro quo to increasing taxes, e.g. universal healthcare. You pay more taxes but less on medical insurance.
So who are they going to tax once the 1% is extinct?

What you meant to say is "private individuals" and i agree, the problem is private individuals are interested in private individuals. So you get to the point where private run services are simply not accessible to everyone.

As i said, its a balancing act.

I recall an interview a while back with the wall street ****... usual middle class outrage mob white dude whining about the 'rich' need to be taxed more etc, only to discover he falls into 'rich' based on his annual salary, tune changed to 'no, the ones making more than me'... always 'take their money' until its their money to be taken:giggle:

Deep State agent who probably voted for Hillary Clinton and definitely not a Trump supporter Bill Taylor sure has a lot to say about Ukraine:

there was an irregular, informal channel of U.S. policy-making with respect to Ukraine, one which included then-Special Envoy Kurt Volker, Ambassador Sondland, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, and as I subsequently learned, Mr. Giuliani.

Ambassador Sondland told me that he had recommended to President Zelenskyy that he use the phrase, 'I will leave no stone unturned' with regard to 'investigations' when President Zelesnkyy spoke with President Trump.

Ambassador Sondland told me that President Trump had told him that he wants President Zelenskyy to state publicly that Ukraine will investigate Burisma and alleged Ukrainian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

President Trump did insist that President Zelennskyy go to a microphone and say he is opening investigations of Biden and 2016 election interference, and that President Zelenskyy should want to do this himself.

the push to make President Zelenskyy publicly commit to investigations of Burisma and alleged interference in the 2016 election showed how the official foreign policy of the United States was undercut by the irregular efforts led by Mr. Giuliani.

Looks like there's some quos for the quids.

The idea isn't to tax the rich to death. In the US however, wealthy people (some of whom are obscenely wealthy) pay disproportionately little tax. Mr Trump's tax breaks have benefited mostly the rich, who don't actually need it. Mr Trump himself has a long history of tax avoidance, which is possibly one reason why he doesn't want his tax returns to be made public. I reckon that the true reason for his tax breaks was to save himself and his family taxes.

Tax isn't a zero sum game. Having good infrastructure and social security, benefits all who live in a country, not only the poor.

In the US, poor folk who can't afford medical insurance (possibly because they are unable to work precisely because of poor health) have no options. Even in South Africa one can get basic medical treatment at state hospitals. What Bernie is proposing is not that far-fetched. The US was making progress to having sustainable universal healthcare until Mr Trump came along and wrecked it because of his personal dislike of Obama, again letting his own ego get in the way of the interests of the country that he is meant to serve.

I think that a journalist should remind Trump during one of his press interviews: "Mr Trump, may I remind you that you are a public servant."

He says so, but rest assured, he and his staff will continue reading and watching the "fake news media".

So why is this so hush hush, and why is the entire process not open to the public? This entire thing smells to high heaven. We want to hear the cross questioning from John Ratcliffe.

Well done you moved on to talking point number 2

tenor.gif

You want to present your talking points with zero resistance or cross examination? How predictable.

It's funny that you support a closed off hearing (or at least won't speak out against it), when you have been bleating about transparency since forever.

I want the investigation to have the opportunity to collect evidence that will help in cross-examinations, so that other witnesses don't have the chance to course correct before they commit perjury. For example:

Trial hasn't started yet... This is evidence gathering only. You should know this being in the law industry.

Here is a handy comparison to normal criminal process so you can orient yourself:
Impechment inquiry = police investigation
Articles of impechment = indictment
Senate trail = trail i.e. where cross examination etc happens

So kindly allow you taking point roll and be patient. The phase you want is coming.

That has absolutely nothing to do with this. Please can you demonstrate how this is not a trial via media. Just look at how cerebus and others have already made up their minds, and are not interested in any counter evidence.

Also, if this is just evidence gathering, it should not be in the media at all so the evidence is not tainted and the accused has a fair chance to counter the evidence. Yet, it seems that, once again, the media is being fed certain information to push their own narratives.
