At this point impeachment is practically guaranteed, the only question is how many articles of impeachment they will choose to bring against Trump. And of course what happens in the Senate is completely unknowable; perhaps they will simply choose to shut it down with a quick vote, or perhaps they'll pressure Trump to stand down because he's become too toxic.

Honestly, I'm beginning to think they are screwing this up on purpose. Its very simple, hold vote to start off with and lay out process from there, they didn't even get that right... They know they have nothing, reps will eventually have no option but to go to courts etc to get their rights, dems will have it thrown in their faces, and then say, well, we can't continue to impeach him due to technicalities but that doesn't mean hes innocent etc... its a game to them

There are 435 seats in Congress. 234 are held by Democrats, 197 by Republicans, there is 1 independent and there are 3 seats vacant.

Impeachment by Congress requires a simple majority vote... You know, 218 of the 435 votes, and whatdaya know, Dems have 16 votes to spare.

Of course secret meetings won't do it. They'll go public when they have the evidence they need. And they'll hold a public vote for impeachment in Congress. Then it will go to a public trial in the Senate. But regardless of how it gets voted in the Senate, he will always have been an impeached president just like Clinton.
