No, the way in which evidence is presented, the type of evidence, lines of questioning are all very different. The amount of political grand standing from the last few weeks has been sickening. And it's not just from one side however. Every single witness was lead on in ways that is forbidden in the US court system. And hearsay evidence is only permitted under very exceptional circumstances. None of which are present in this case.
All this means is that no sane DA would bring the case to trial in the first place.

Yikes! BBSA is sure to be along directly to police the tone of this post GBM.
Last I checked, you don't pretend to propriety, so there's no reason for BBSA to burst any pretense bubbles.

That said, if you had a point that was worth a damn, you would have said it explicitly instead of beating around the bush like a parched cactus angling for the water of attention.

Exactly which parts of the hearings this week relied on hearsay?
Other than sondland saying 'trump said I want nothing from ukraine, no quid pro quos, he must do what he ran on'... all of it is hearsay, its all 'no I never spoke to trump I never heard him say anything, he never told me, it was bob at water cooler who overheard tim tell mary whos little brothers friend overheard it from the neighbour, and my interpretation is it was xyz'

That doesn't explain it. Please use plain English and try and imagine that I don't watch MSNBC.

His point is impeachment is pretty much locked in because it only requires a majority Congressional vote.

Problem is I think impeachment has already been priced in by hardcore Trumpets and I guess by the GOP as well. It's unlikely to sway them.

Hey, speaking of partisanship, anybody want to take a guess how many Democrats voted for impeachment on Clinton?

I've also said that numerous times. It is known.

So what is greg really going on about? Is this just him celebrating that even though Impeachment is a sham the Dem house will all still vote for it on partisan lines?

The Dem's will vote along party lines.

It will go to the Senate and there it will get voted out by the majority Republican's, as they vote along party lines.

Okay, and I'll type real slow so you can follow along...

The US Congress is made up of two chambers. One is called the Senate and the other is called the House of Representatives.

Still with me pal?

Right, the US constitution makes provision for the removal of, "The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States" via the process of Impeachment and Trial.

Impeachment takes place in the House of Representatives.

The Trial takes place in the Senate.

In order for a President, Vice President or any civil officer to be impeached, the House of Representatives need to vote - by simple majority - that there is sufficient evidence of a crime... Like a Grand Jury indictment, and we can go over Grand Jury indictments tomorrow, if you'd like.

Anyway, there are 435 folk who can vote in the House of Representatives.

A simple majority of those 435 votes, 218 votes, are all that is needed to impeach the President, Vice President or civil officer in the House of Representatives.

If 218 yea votes are counted, the President, Vice President or civil officer is, and always will be... Impeached.

Then, like a Grand Jury indictment is tried in a court of law, the impeached President, Vice President or civil officer is tried in the Senate where a super majority vote - 66 votes - is required to convict and remove the President, Vice President or civil officer from office.

Still keeping up buddy?

I'll need to sidetrack to the 2018 mid-term election now, so bear with me...

Before the 2018 mid-terms, Republicans were in the majority in the Senate *and* the House of Representatives. That changed when Democrats were able to win 35 House of Representatives seats from Republicans in 2018, increasing their minority total of 196 seats to a majority total of 235 seats.

Now Katie Hill has resigned and Elijah Cummings died, but it still means that of the 435 House of Representatives votes, the Democrats hold seventeen (17) *more* than the 218 required for a simple majority.

You see where I'm going with this yet pal?

Donnie's getting his... how did Gordon Sundland put it... ass... impeached by the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, irrespective of the amount of times you, GBM, Em, Narrow and so on waltz in here to say, Donnie "won't get impeached."

Donnie will be acquitted by a Republican Senate majority, but that won't change the fact that he will be the third POTUS in US history to be impeached.

You good with all of this now rietrot?

Can I just refer you to this post the next time you step on a rake and say Donnie "won't be impeached'?

Excellent!

Bra. Try and keep up. Nobody is saying that Trump won't be impeached. We've all agreed long ago everyone is voting among party lines and he will be impeached even though any reasonable person can see Impeachment is a sham.

Be careful of celebrating to hard now. It might look silly when nothing comes of it. Or maybe it will make you happy to be able to say the house did vote for Impeachment a year from now when Trump is still president.
