It's exactly what's happening. Too many unfulfilled jobs is not an unemployment problem. People are choosing not to go back to work because they aren't happy with labor conditions. The economy could provide full employment tomorrow if workers were happy with the salaries they were being offered.

Let me explain simply.

If (you as say) supply is exceeding demand, then not only would there be downward pressure on wages (there is anecdotal evidence to suggest the opposite), but the millions of jobs going unfulfilled would not be happening. Businesses can't find workers so how can there be excess supply?!

Ugh my brain is fried today. I meant demand is exceeding supply. Apologies.

What usually happened in the past when the Senate majority was in the hands of the party opposite to that of the President? I'm guessing that the President got his picks passed? Unfortunately, nowadays that is dynamite these days as then the Senate majority party would be accused of being an enabler. You really need to win the tri-fecta these days in US politics.

Fourteen vacancies during an election year, eight filled in the same year... The last of those was Amy Coney Barrett.

Three tabled or postponed, one rejected, and one filled with a recess appointment.

One where the Senate simply did nothing.... Merrick Garland in '16.

Divided government? Eisenhower got around it with the recess appointment. Obama, not so much. The rest were pre 1888.

I was more thinking about the era post-1964 to around the late 1990s or so.

Politicians have a nasty habit of abusing power (Exhibit A: all the nonsensical covid-19 regulations) - there is no check on a party with untrammeled power.

But you just said it's impossible to pass your agenda without the trifecta. It's almost like you want to gerrymander Biden's failure then blame him for his failure.

Wow, you use one small example and that somehow proves Trump did not take a muscular approach to China? Wow, such logic. Nothing like looking at a grain of sand instead of the sand castle.
Small example? lol.

His trade war has been a massive economic disaster that achieved nothing.

The breadth of the payments means that government support will account for about 40 percent of total farm income this year.

China Trade War Cost Tops $40 Billion in Lost US Exports

...and yet he achieved almost unfathomable low levels of unemployment for all race groups! We wait in anticipation to see if Biden will achieve such levels. Not off to a good start when employers are already complaining about a lack of employees, however.
Yeah, man. Crystal clear where Trump is the one that did that.

On this graph with the date range cut off would you be able to show where Trump fixed it?

So many things to say about this…

First, a private visit… with a press conference. It’s a media opp and that’s it.

Second, Marj just learning antisemitism doesn’t play with her zionist base? Sad.

Third, “I’m very much a normal person” is something a normal person rarely has to clarify.

Fourth, she should demand a refund from every school she ever attended. She’s 47 and was yesterday years old when she found out about the holocaust.

Fifth, I’m conflicted. Conservatives traditionally learn history from statues, or so I keep getting told; so I’m upset there isn’t a Hitler statue in GA for Marj to learn history from, but also I’m fsckn’ delighted there isn’t a Hitler statue in GA, or anywhere else.

Sixth, I imagine if the US had an education system that taught *true* history, this would not have been necessary… Someone should definitely take a critical look at that.

Seventh, she should do the National Museum of Natural History next.

Eighth, then the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Ninth, then the graves of the Sandy Hook kids.

Tenth, then the graves of the Parkland kids.
