Honestly, I'm still surprised Republicans didn't vote for a rope, a tree and a burning cross.
A rope is too torturous...You have to at least try and be humane
The burning cross just for mood lighting?

No, they were produced in SA, to be sent elsewhere, perhaps India.
Do you have a link for this? All links I have read point that 'Biovac were contracted to store & distribute AZ vaccine' and nowhere where they have 'produced' 1 million covid vaccines.

I am not doubting that they have capability. I really doubt if they have produced AZ yet but I am happy to be corrected if a source is pointed out.

In below link CEO corrects Bongani that they produce 80% of paediatric vaccine and not covid vaccine.

Counterpoint: no, it doesn't.

Under the TRIPS agreement, there have been numerous waivers negotiated for specific pharmaceutical products and somehow it didn't lead to the nuking of all IP protections for anything related to it.

Counterpoint: Read the law President Alzheimers is supporting:
The obligations of Members to implement or apply Sections 1, 4, 5 and 7 of Part II of the TRIPS Agreement or to enforce these Sections under Part III of the TRIPS Agreement, shall be waived in relation to prevention, containment or treatment of COVID-19, for [X] years from the decision of the General Council.

Amazing if you pay people to sit around and do no work...that's what they will do. I referred a few days ago that some people in the US can earn more sitting at home receiving unemployment cheques...

This should be an embarrassment for the Biden administration.

The numbers: The U.S. created just 266,000 new jobs in April on a seasonally adjusted basis even as the economy gained strength, suggesting companies might be struggling to fill open jobs even with millions of people still unemployed.
The increase in new jobs fell well short of Wall Street’s forecast. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal had estimated 1 million new jobs.

How do you know they are just sitting around and not working?

Because then they'd counted as employed?
As COVID-19 restrictions have faded, some employers have reported difficulty finding workers for open jobs, particularly in lower-paying frontline sectors, such as food service and retail. The need to take care of children or supervise remote schooling is keeping many workers, especially women, on the sidelines.

Remember that time we all argued about infrastructure ... yeah Biden wants to fund the construction of daycare facilities in that bill ... but yeah Biden must be stupid to want to fund such ventures that free up people to contribute more to the economy. Crazy boomer!

Oh and benefits as an excuse? Then why has lower paid jobs seen a higher increase in employment?
However, many economists dispute the notion that too-generous benefits are keeping workers home, noting that the biggest job gains in April were in relatively low-paid industries, hospitality and food service.

Fewer jobs were added than expected, but the composition of job gains doesn't scream supply constraints as the problem. Gains were strongest in lower-wage industries and low work-from-home industries," Nick Bunker, economist at Indeed.
