Excellent. Absolutely superb. Three great nations coming together to stave off the dangerous Chinese  !

Australia, the United States and Britain will unveil a landmark new security pact to share advanced technologies, including nuclear submarine technology, in a major international announcement on Thursday morning.

As part of the pact, to be known as AUKUS, the US would help Australia develop a nuclear submarine capability, which could result in Australia dumping its $90 billion submarine deal with France, sources confirmed.

The working group will enable the three countries to share information in areas including long-range strike capabilities, artificial intelligence and underwater systems in a thinly veiled bid to counter China, Politico reported, citing a White House official and a congressional staffer.

Trump got 34% in 2020 and the Yes vote is currently on 35.6 percent, increasing rapidly. It will only go up as mail-in ballots (heavily Dem) were counted first. ED vote broke 72-28 for the Republicans according to exit polls. I was actually quite shocked when I woke up this morning and seeing the loathsome Newsom leading by a 2:1 advantage.

I note that the most famous Republican county in California, Orange County, still has "No" leading but I will expect that to flip once all counting is done.
Remember when you were heralding the latino surge for Republicans?

lol.

But early numbers suggest that it might have been history repeating itself: a late investment in Latino voter outreach, and a late uptick in interest and voting among Latinos. Though it was far from unanimous, the majority of Latino voters backed Mr. Newsom, with some Latino-heavy precincts defeating the recall by as much as 88 percent, according to an analysis by the Latino Public Policy Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles.

I would suggest a pact with India.

They have a larger armed force, both active and reserve than the US . They also have a massive paramilitary branch.

Obviously their technology is a bit lacking compared to the US & UK, but they would make a strong ally.
They already operate a nuclear attack submarine so seem a bit further along than AUS.

Problem is there are no real suitable candidates, so voters will probably abstain or retain the status quo. EDIT: it will also vary by county, those counties with less issues will keep newsom while people in other counties are not happy with the state of affairs.
Worth asking why there is no "suitable candidate" then, surely? Why was a complete fruitcake like Elder the GOP's man? Why did Faulconer, a former San Diego mayor, and much closer to the median Californian voter, get less than 10%?

He's a republican which automatically makes him prime evil...
To who? Interestingly, when it comes to presidential election, the garbage electoral college system disenfranchises people of all political persuasions, so it completely masks how electorates actually look.

This great thread illustrates how getting rid of the electoral college would benefit everyone. Every vote would count, regardless where you find them, unlike now where whole states like California or Texas is basically a write-off for one party.

Seems bad that deranged lies have become dogma in one of the major parties.

Those numbers seem suspect. Especially among the independents. If it was true you'd see much more conversation around this issue.
There's a massive schism between those that believe "The Big Lie" and those that believe there might be fraud.

It reminds me of the NBC poll which had Black vaccination at 76% when they are at 30.4%
They have to have horrible sample selection to get those kind of differences.
Makes any information gleamed from such polls basically useless.

I honestly have no idea.

The system is fscked, if you look at a map how they break up the areas i't's all rigged,

I agree but I don't see the yanks doing much about it, the majority sees what's happening but how can they change it?

CNN exit poll had Latinos just behind whites in terms of percentage who voted 'Yes'. Definitely a surge - but not in they are describing it. I'm be surprised if the Don got 40% of Latino California vote.

But I got told Biden had destroyed the integrity of the US on the international scene.

Anyway, this is big for Australia. Some serious tech there.

They can support candidates that advocate for change. One approach is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

But it's a long shot, good chance a lot of people who support a change like that in principle don't want to side with the politicians who support it for other reasons, including the massive polarisation at the moment that makes any kind of fundamental change impossible.

Frankly, one of the ways to force some change is to do away with the filibuster. It'll force both parties to start legislating with majority-vote in mind, not supermajority vetos over everything.
