I think you're being harsh on konfab. He doesn't hate women, he hates poor people. Abortion restrictions are all about targeting the poor. Middle class people will always be able to afford access to an abortion but hey, they aren't, ahem, 'deliberately getting pregnant such that they can get child support gibs'.

The 8 week limit comes from the fact that is around where the foetus starts getting neurological activity. The neurological activity part is important, as that is the cut-off point as to when you can end the life support for an adult in a coma. If they have no neurological activity, you are not committing murder by pulling the plug.

And if you bothered to read my position in this thread, I am fully in favour of state-funded contraceptives (I would go further than what is currently offered and offer IUDs) (just don't call it access to contraceptives ffs), and I am in favour of proper education, which has to include education about the non-pregnancy, non-std risks of sex.

One of the funniest things on twitter is how brilliantly Matthew Gertz, who is with Media Matters and has the twitter handle @MattGertz, handles being tagged incorrectly when folks are ranting at Republican congressman, pedophile and Florida Man, Matt Gaetz for, well, being Matt Gaetz.

You should ask Cerberus *and* cerebus how they feel about Matthew's predicament.
