You seem to think Cheney has some sort of right to be a politician - no she doesn't. She's only a politician as long as she is voted in. She criticised Trump and now she will pay the electoral price. End of story.
Wat dis?

185 732 Republican voters can go pound sand 'cos Liz made Donnie cry.

How very MAGA of you, Chris.

Lol. Her political career is dead. I'd be surprised if she's not taken out in the Republican primary. Huge amount of Trump support in Wyoming...

I thought you were of the opinion that the Jan 6 riot was a serious breach of national security

But now you're all "Kick Liz out, MAGA!"? Hell of a weird about-face I have to say.

Yes and, so what? She lost the confidence of her caucus hence was voted out as the #3 Republican and she will likely lose the Republican primary when her seat is next up for election. Politics is politics.

So... do you think it's a positive development for the Republican party to be kicking members out of leadership roles for the sole reason that they won't toe the line that the election was rigged and Jan 6th wasn't a serious breach?

Well, most Republican House members are on the Trump train and saw Cheney as a decisive figure within the Republican caucus when the caucus wants to project unity in the upcoming mid-terms so from that standpoint, I can see why they would want to kick her out. How can you really expect to be in a leadership position when you are a hardcore critic of somebody which most of the caucus likes?

She's not being removed from Congress however, just from her leadership position in the Republican Party, so her voters are not being disenfranchised.

Saying that "most Republican House members are on the Trump train" is not the same as saying that it's healthy for the GOP to go full MAGA so they SHOULD still be unified around Trump. What is your personal opinion of this development?

Get injected or be forced to wear a mask?
Seems like a bit controlling, isn't it?

Thankfully there are sane places in the US like Florida where people are not forced into this false dicotomy.
How is it false?

You are either vaccinated against the virus, so you can't spread it, like polio for example.

Or if you are not you wear a mask to mitigateagainst spreading it.

It was always about the protection of others and not control.

I see the free market is deciding on Florida. Lucrative cruise liner market is threatening to leave Florida.

I think it was untenable for her to continue in a leadership position given the current political situation of the Republican party and therefore it was right she was demoted. She is of course free to hold whatever views she wants and can run as a Republican but she can't expect much more than being a "vanilla" Congresswoman.

Still not an answer to my question. Any reason you're avoiding it?

Yes, if she gets primaried and loses, that will be the electoral price. Remember that's how AOC beat a 10-term Congressman? I'm not suggesting that she loses her seat automatically or anything, just that she can expect to have lots of competitors (from the Republican side, obviously) when her seat is up for election in 2022.

Wtf are you talking about? She isn't a critic of his. She supported everything he ever did.

She got kicked out for simply stating that he lost the election fair and square and that Trump cost them the presidency, the senate and the house. Those are facts.

And how can you expect a person like that to lead? Are you serious? They would simply just need to do their jobs and advance the conservative agenda.

You're admitting that the full extent of the conservative agenda is Trump. God help you people.

What Voters in Wyoming Say About Liz Cheney’s Lonely Stand

The byline:

In a heavily Republican state, their lone congresswoman’s defiance of the former president is unpopular. But some residents still stick up for her. “She told the truth!” one proclaimed.
The state Republican Party overwhelmingly voted to censure Ms. Cheney in February after she voted to impeach the former president. Six residents have announced they will run against her in 2022. Statements of support from Republican office holders in Wyoming have been notably scant.
But in Cheyenne, during the same week that Ms. Cheney was stripped of her leadership position in Congress, local politicians privately predicted that her days in office were numbered. Several leveled one of the more serious insults in these parts — that Ms. Cheney, who owns a house in the ski town of Jackson but has spent much of her life in Washington, was not really from Wyoming.
