This is part of The Big Democrat Lie - that the protests were peaceful and what few instances of violence there were, were committed by others. Just like The Big Lie that the insurrectionists weren't Trump supporters and the actual Trump supporters merely filed through The Capitol like tourists.

There was some rioting and looting that happened during the protests but the majority of it was peaceful. A lot of the looting that happened according to police reports was through organized gangs that used the protests as cover. But there was still some amount of vandalism and outbursts of street violence from BLM, especially as the protests dragged on through the summer. There were also a lot of false flags from groups like Proud Boys.

Overall for the scale of the protests - the largest in US history - the George Floyd protests were quite restrained. I can still clearly remember LA in 1992, and if you go back to the 1960s race riots you can see some really disturbing imagery.

Point is, firstly Greg is right that you are being fed a narrative that the protests were just a cover to riot and loot, which is being fed by right-wing media. Secondly, in the specific case of the McCosky's they were in no apparent danger, they were in the middle of a peaceful march that happened to intrude on their cosseted existence, and they chose to grandstand and endanger everyone's lives by waving automatic rifles at the protesters. They are in legal trouble because of what they did, and now they're trying to leverage that into an awful political grift.

Weird, you lot were telling me just last week that the lack of job applicants for low-skill jobs had very little to do with the increased unemployment benefits and all to do with the bad pay employees were receiving (completely over-looking the fact that the magnitude of this problem was not on the radar pre-March 2020. Did people's salary expectations really change so rapidly?).

No doubt that the unemployment benefits over the last year has triggered this movement. But the movement for a higher base wage for low-skilled employees has been going on for years and this is just the catalyst for people realizing that they don't need to go back to starvation level wages. What's happening now is a natural market correction.

I am not sure if we can call it "natural" really. Would you not agree that sustained focus on minimum wage in recent months + executive order for fed minimum wage to 15$ + relief measures aren't major contributors to this?

Something, something, they're the minority, something.

35 Republicans living in reality, 175 living in a lie.

16% must just be Republican math for a more than half...

So, am I correct in saying that presidents of USA issue executive orders intermittently to bring gasoline prices up and down? Or is it being determined by market factors ?

Biden is president therefore it's his fault. Global supply chain issues, semiconductor shortages, OPEC restrictions, local coffee production shocks due to weather, and an inflationary housing market are all Biden's fault, jack's chart proves it.

I see. I suppose we are not married to Biden and that seems to be very odd for the trump spouses here.
