Republican politicians haven't forgotten, they just want people to forget because it's not politically good for them. They know full well that the Democrats will use it to win votes in 2022.
It's a pretty cramped little corner they are stuck in now trying not to let the 6 Jan events get any oxygen, trying to keep trump on their side, but also not wanting trump to get too much airtime since all he can do is wail and whine about his 'landslide' election theft.
