Rightful redistribution of wealth. Great stuff

Indeed. I am sure he will get a fair hearing.

Before Bankman-Fried's wealth disappeared in November 2022, Bankman-Fried was a major donor to Democratic Party candidates.[15][16] He was the second-largest individual donor to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, personally donating $5.2 million,[17][18] and he donated $40 million, mostly to Democratic candidates, during the 2022 U.S. midterm elections.[19]
2nd only to George Soros.

I wonder what dark money this is going to Republicans? Sounds like money laundering.

Bankman-Fried was the second-largest individual donor to Democratic causes in the 2021–2022 election cycle, with total donations of $39.8 million, only behind George Soros.[75][76][77] Of this, $27 million was given to Protect Our Future PAC, bankrolled by Bankman-Fried.[78] Bankman-Fried also claimed to have donated an equivalent amount to Republicans as their third largest donor, but used "dark money" to deflect attention,[79] stating "reporters freak the **** out if you donate to Republicans. They're all super liberal, and I didn't want to have that fight."[80]

Hopefully the SC rules against one of the biggest vote buying exercises of all time! Indeed, one might speculate that the Biden administration knew it would never pass legal muster, but announced the program so that the easily manipulated/duped would go out and vote D in the mid-terms...

Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Reckoning

Not much of the federal government is working well these days, but the courts are holding up their end. The latest example is the Supreme Court’s order Thursday that it will hear the merits of a challenge to President Biden’s $420 billion unilateral cancellation of student loans.

The Biden Justice Department had asked the Court to vacate a lower-court injunction against the loan cancellation. Instead the Justices deferred that request and agreed to hear the constitutional challenge brought by several states (Biden v. Nebraska). The Court agreed to Justice’s request to hear the case in expedited fashion, so the challenge will skip further proceedings in lower courts and go directly to the Supremes, with oral argument in February. A ruling is likely by the end of June.

This is excellent news. President Biden has tried to pull a constitutional trick for the ages by ordering the forgiveness of up to $20,000 per borrower on his own authority. Congress had given the executive no such power, as even Mr. Biden had previously noted.
But an election loomed, Democrats looked to be in trouble, and in August the President declared one of the greatest vote-buying exercises of all time. The Education Department located a heretofore obscure corner of the 2003 Heroes Act that supposedly justified mass loan cancellations owing to the Covid emergency. It’s a classic example of a political need in rampaging search of a legal excuse.

Dear Leader of the Great State of Florida (previously known as the swampland retirement village and lunatic asylum of the US) has reconsidered the wisdom of stripping its biggest tourist feature of its privileged status due to wokeness:

How many governors can say they helped get a CEO of a well-known company fired? The new CEO (who actually was the CEO before this one got fired) is probably making a number of promises regarding getting involved in nonsensical SJW stuff. De Santis' job is done on this regard. De Santis has won.

What makes you think DeSantis had anything to do with the CEO getting canned? Seems to me that Disney's poor stock performance and dodgy accounting might have had more to do with it.

Many media commentators mentioned the bad press that was generated from their ill-advised intervention. Companies in general don't like being seen to be controversial for obvious reasons. They put their foot in it and couldn't extricate themselves. As I said, Ron De Santis was *partially* responsible. There are of course other issues that were also at play as you say.

I think it's a stretch. Disney's staff has been well known to be disproportionately LGBT since forever. My mum used to work at Disney World and she said a ton of the staff and especially the artists were gay.

In any case, it was never going to work to take back their status on Reedy Creek. It meant more of a mess for FLA to deal with than was worth it. It was a purely performative stunt and now they've backed off. Remains to be seen if Bob Iger also backs down on the opposition to Don't Say Gay, but I hope he stands his grounds. It's a disgusting piece of legislation.

Iger is worse than Chapek in most regards. The bad decisions were inherited from his reign, Chapek actually did well considering Covid etc. hampering their business. That is until he released that hostage'esque video. Rehiring Iger will come back to bite them, not that I'm complaining. The only way that they'll improve the quality of their content is if they suffer financial losses.

Still find it odd that some are against the Don't be a groomer bill.

I find it amusing that he's using Trump's phrasing. Not sensitive, Em.

Holy ****, you need to get a grip. You seem to have been slowly become more and more unhinged about politics the last few months.

No wonder SBF can walk around with little care in the world. Amazing what donating to the Democrats can do for you!

It's reached a point where this should be expected.

This is one of their thought leaders. Politicians were there a long time ago. We have just been naïve in thinking they stand by their screeching when it comes to the Right.

Meanwhile, the usual morons are all up in arms over Ron De Santis.
