I just saw that Santa Claus was also a candidate

Legally changed his name, interesting guy...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus_(politician)

is an American politician, monk, and child welfare activist. Claus gained recognition as a member of the North Pole, Alaska City Council,[2] and as a candidate for the 2022 Alaska's at-large congressional district special election.[3] He changed his name to match the legendary character in 2005, to help bring awareness to his advocacy for children's health and welfare, a time during which he engaged in a nation-wide tour to champion that cause.[4] Claus has expanded his advocacy as a congressional candidate into the broader sphere of democratic socialism, including support for Medicare for All, coronavirus relief, a wealth tax, and student loan cancellation.

Mary Peltota defeated Palin to flip Alaska's seat.

Kieppie you know Republicans will actually have to win something before they can carry out their performative Congress stunts right?
Kinda highlights the problems with their ranked voting if there isn't a separate second round of voting for the two leading candidates.
Over 10000 of Begich votes were essentially not counted. Quite a it considering the win was by ~5200.

Luckily this trial run on resulted in a temp appointment. Don't expect Alaskans to make the same mistake next time.
Performative stunts? You like throwing out meaningless words. Isn't that rather what Democrats are always doing. You know "kids in cages"™, impeachments, dishonestly labelling bills to make it appear as if they do something, while hiding funding for other stuff etc. etc.

If I was them, I would not do it. If I took both the House and Senate I would simply keep him in place. Just block any and everything he does. As America goes down the tubes for another 2 years, the Republicans, even with Trump will be guaranteed a landslide win in 2024.

Besides, if the Democrats lose the House and Senate this year and also the 2024 elections, there is no chance in this life or world that they would ever get elected into power again.

So, this will be a win for the majority of Americans and the world.
No. Someone as unfit for office like Biden needs to go if the Republicans wants to be taken seriously and that is within their power. They can keep Harris around as the clown to guarantee future victory.

Don't think you understand how ranked choice works. The whole point is that no vote is wasted - which happens all the time with 3rd party candidates. Voters assign preferences right down the ballot with an option to not choose another candidate. If their first choice is eliminated, their vote goes to their second choice until they're eliminated, and so on.

If no candidate has topped 50% of the vote at that point, then the Division of Elections would go through a second round of tabulation. The fourth-place candidate would have already been eliminated, and in the second round, the third-place finisher would also be eliminated.
Those who ranked the third- or fourth-place candidate first would have their votes assigned to the highest-ranked remaining candidate on their ballots. For example: A voter who ranked the third-place finisher first, the fourth-place candidate second, the first-place candidate third and the second-place candidate fourth would, in this round, have their vote assigned to the first-place candidate.

So Begich's votes were passed down to Palin. 100% the opposite of what you said.

Hey look, the twice-impeached former president is currently awaiting indictment for holding top-secret documents at his private residence, and still nobody has even come close to explaining what he wanted to do with them. Sounds like a worst-case-scenario for national security to me. Sounds like Trump was just as bad as we all thought from the very beginning.

No you don't understand ranked choice.. If they don't select any of the winning candidates as their other choices then that vote goes to waste.
Over 10000 of Begich's went to waste. Go do the math, it's not hard.

If this is handled like the French election that would not be the case. Having a final vote between two candidates results in completely different voting behaviour.

Ah yes that performative nonsense you mentioned.

So if they didn't like Palin, they chose to not vote for her. They could have chosen to ballot her but they didn't. Sounds like the voters spoke.

Some people just didn't choose alternatives. Many most likely did not know what they are doing. This is the first time the used this method after all.
There's now way around it, she won with less than 50% of the votes cast.
Why are you against a second round of voting with the two finalists? Again go look at the French election.

I would have no issue with a system like the French election. I contend that given the gap in votes between them, she would have won in any system. But hey, I generally believe in anything that strengthens the popular vote.

"I mean, it was 90 out, and it was right during the peak period," Talarico said. "It was hot."
That's when he saw a message on the thermostat stating the temperature was locked due to an "energy emergency."

"Normally, when we see a message like that, we're able to override it," Talarico said. "In this case, we weren't. So, our thermostat was locked in at 78 or 79."

"It's a voluntary program. Let's remember that this is something that customers choose to be a part of based on the incentives," said Emmett Romine, vice president of customer solutions and innovation at Xcel.

Customers receive a $100 credit for enrolling in the program and $25 annually, but Romine said customers also agree to give up some control to save energy and money and make the system more reliable

He doesn't want to understand, and with any other system his team loses. He will support whatever gets his team a win

It's one thing if there is not enough power, but it will morph into "you didn't comply".
