Hope they enjoy the blackouts, it really boosts outdoor efficiency :D

We had a strange phenomena yesterday after the "scheduled brownout". For almost 24h the supply voltage dropped to <100V almost as if the substation lost some of its phases. Small electronic devices remained functioning, but regular lights looked more like candlelight. Feel sorry for those households that do not have gas stoves.
I did catch up on some neglected gardening though

She says men hate women of colour and they want women of colour dead apparently. Whole article about how much she hates men and how men are out to kill her in feminist magazine GQ. :p

But at the same time, my experience here has given me a front-row seat to how deeply and unconsciously, as well as consciously, so many people in this country hate women. And they hate women of color. People ask me questions about the future. And realistically, I can’t even tell you if I’m going to be alive in September. And that weighs very heavily on me. And it’s not just the right wing. Misogyny transcends political ideology: left, right, center. This grip of patriarchy affects all of us

I sat through a presentation that spoke to future trends on power and motor vehicles.

The long and short: EVs are going to surge worldwide, but not in South Africa. Hybrids will pick up in South Africa. Petrol will hit R30 per L by 2025 and electrical power will become unaffordable for most in the short to medium term (so nothing new really). Switch to solar as soon as you can.
