And for the record, these people were not illegal immigrants, they are legal immigrants. They surrendered themselves at the border and applied for asylum, as codified in U.S. law and as international law requires.

I think it’s more accurate to say that if Trump is unwilling to prove that he declassified the documents (for example because he claims he doesn’t want to reveal his potential defense) then he doesn’t have a case. That’s why he’s trying to have his cake and eat it - he wants to claim that he classified everything without showing any evidence of the classification.
