US Politics: Felonious families

Leaders of countries, especially influential ones like Germany, do not have the many spare hours that I do to read insightful commentary of the US election. They either get given high-level executive summaries or speak to diplomats, neither of which is a reliable source of information. Just like in the recent SA election, foreign diplomats were expecting 45%+ for the ANC simply because they were just repeating what was written in the media.

No, it's called reality. Chancellors don't have much spare time to contemplate polls about a foreign country - they are far too busy with, you know, running their own country and domestic issues. I dismissed his opinion based on that as well as the fact that he (+ his party) is very unpopular right now (so why is he giving predictions when he can't get his own house in order?). He does not have special insight, like you seem you to be suggesting.

I’m not suggesting anything other than the chancellor has expressed his opinion. You seem to be grasping here to discredit it.
