Sweeping budget deal would more than $500 billion in federal spending, end months of partisan wrangling

The Republican-led Congress is set to vote Thursday on a two-year budget deal that would include massive increases in military and domestic spending programs, reflecting an ideological shift for a party whose leaders long preached fiscal conservatism but have now embraced big spending.

If the plan wins passage, it would quell months of squabbling between the parties with another big addition to the federal deficit, ending the need for repeated short-term agreements that led to frequent brinkmanship and a government shutdown.

The accord would deliver the defense funding boost wanted by President Trump and Republican lawmakers alongside an increase in domestic programs sought by Democrats, as well as tens of billions of dollars for disaster victims.

Freshly minted in N&CA where those rules apply! Thank you OD.

Right, back on topic... I’m not sure I’m with Chuck in the Senate on this. Dems are giving up their best leverage for the Dreamers.

I *do* know that Nancy was AWESOME yesterday. Clearly not low energy and obviously unhindered by bone spurs... That woman is a fighter and I think she won over plenty fans yesterday.
Obviously not the kinda fans that roll over and submit to 45... Rather the fans those folk least understand... Women who vote.

It was pretty admirable, but doubt it'll change much. Paul Ryan has handed the bigots the keys to immigration talks, even though they're in the minority. Even the majority of Republicans (voters and representatives) support legalising the Dreamers, but Ryan refuses to bring it to the floor.

In other news, WH in a bit of turmoil due to them having employed and promoted a wife beater.

White House officials knew about Porter's abuse allegations and scrambled to protect him

By early fall, it was widely known among Trump's top aides -- including chief of staff John Kelly -- both that Porter was facing troubles in obtaining the clearance and that his ex-wives claimed he had abused them. No action was taken to remove him from the staff.

Instead, Kelly and others oversaw an elevation in Porter's standing.

Notice how they don't say what those opinions were.

Both Hamas and Hezbollah are considered terrorist organizations by the US government, which doesn't exactly help his claim that Muslims are not terrorists. The logic displayed here is inspiring.
Why, do you think his claim that most Muslims aren't terrorists actually needs to be justified?

  • Undercover FBI informant William Campbell has given written testimony to Congressional investigators after an "iron clad" gag order was lifted in October
  • Campbell was a highly valued CIA and FBI asset deeply embedded in the Russian nuclear industry while Robert Mueller was the Director of the FBI
  • Campbell was required by the Russians, under threat, to launder large sums of money - which allowed the FBI to uncover a massive Russian "nuclear money laundering apparatus"
  • He collected over 5,000 documents and briefs over a six year period, some of which detail efforts by Moscow to route money to the Clinton Foundation
  • Campbell claims to have video evidence of bribe money related to the Uranium One deal being stuffed into suitcases.
  • The Obama FBI knew about the bribery scheme, yet the administration still approved the Uranium One deal.
  • To thank him for his service, Campbell was paid $51,000 by FBI officials at a 2016 celebration dinner in Chrystal City
  • When it emerged that Campbell had evidence against the Clinton Foundation, a Yahoo News article by Michael Isikoff (of FISA warrant application fame) slammed Campbell as a "disaster" potential witness

Exactly what are they supposed to use this leverage for?

Logic? The US government is a terrorist organisation itself

Update on this. They're all over the place.

"He was terminated, no, he quit, they accepted his resignation, his final day isn't set, his final day was yesterday, they weren’t aware of photos, weren’t “fully aware,” not the guy they knew, not going to get into specifics. Kelly didn't know, Kelly knew and stands by his statement."

Doesn't that suggest to you that there's more to the story than meets the eye?
