US Politics: Tariff Wars

Why didn't he leave USAID and cut mil spending then? He cut USAID because he believed they were funding causes that opposed him personally and supported DEI/trans movements not sure why the latter prick him so. I mean, you've just admitted that he's not really interested in meaningful spending cuts aside from his own petty schemes.
Budget goes through the senate. They just don't have the numbers to do real cuts.

About 50% democrats that will oppose anything.
About 30% Neocons that won't do cuts.
The Lolbertarians want real cuts to the budget. Which is great. Except they are not smart enough to realize they are a minority and being difficult about it just won't work.

One factor of corruption in the public sector is illicit enrichment

He will be personally gaining the use of a Boeing when he leaves office. He is receiving this gift solely because he is President of the United States, it's going to cost the taxpayer millions to refit and then he is going to personally benefit from it when he leaves office.
"Misuse" /dishonesty/illicit. That's what I said and what you need to prove

Nope. If you seriously don't believe the federal government is bloated, inefficient and filled with pencil pushers, then you are a bit delusional.

They promised to cut trillions worth of fraud and theft. There are no trillions worth of fraud and theft.

Just because Trumptards are actually dumb enough to believe that 60% of government funds are stolen or diverted by fraudulent means doesn't make it so.

Anyone with two brain cells knew that it was a scam from the beginning.

Your definition is incomplete; illicit enrichment is considered corruption, in this case, he gains the use of a jet solely due to his public sector position. If the jet was going to be used by the president after him there would still be questions about undue influence but it would not be nearly as dodgy.

How is that illicit enrichment?

Illicit
forbidden by law, rules, or custom.

Which law prohibits it.

Now you just being intentionally obtuse, if someone in the ANC accepted a gift like this and then took it with him you would be howling bout corruption to anyone who would listen

Which law prohibits it.
Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution prohibits any person holding a government office from accepting any present, emolument , office, or title from any "King, Prince, or foreign State ," without congressional consent. This clause is meant to prevent external influence and corruption of American officers by foreign States . A similar provision was included in the Articles of Confederation , applicable to both federal and state officers. The language of the modern clause, however, suggests that only federal government officials are prohibited from accepting any emoluments .

Trump is just white Zuma but same mybb guys who justify Trump's dodgy dealings are scathing about Zuma.

I wonder why.

Someone in the ANC is not Trump.

So congress needs to approve it. I'm sure they will if Trump is going to accept it.

You still haven't suggested how it is corrupt or illicit.

And legal technicality, but I'm sure the plane will not count as an emollument

Then how come they fired nuclear safety , cancer research , air traffic staff and scientist?

Where are the pen pushers, or they were the Veterans in accounting and IRS?
Lol lefties falling over themselves.

1. DOGE did nothing
2. DOGE is the ultimate evil for firing nuclear safety personnel and cancer researchers.

Pick one

I didn't say all. Of course there are some good people in the public service, but there are also the lazy or incompetent ones - much like the private sector however because tax money is paying the salaries of the public sector, there is extra scrutiny attached. In addition, many civil servants receive generous benefits in terms of the number of leave days, generous pension (defined benefit instead of defined contribution) etc. that just do not exist in the private sector anymore.

Using your public office for personal gain is corruption, or do you think that elected officials should be able to accept gifts from foreign leaders without any restriction?

Trump is not using his public office for personal gain. The personal gain is just a happy coincidence of him doing his job correctly.

It is very understandable that these middle eastern kings want to give him gifts after he secured peace in the region.

I already explained why there can't be a restriction. Exchanging essentially priceless one of a kind gifts is customary.

How original...
I’ve dropped to you level, John. Iron sharpens iron, much the same with gutter trash. You’ve forced me down to your gutter trash talk level. Now you’re beating my with your vast experience.
Do better babes. Do it for the children.

But DOGE didn't go after inefficiencies and useless people. They went corporate used the Musk method of demanding that departments cut by this and that percentage and they did so indiscriminately.

Can you give an example of when another US President accepted a priceless one-of-a-kind gift for himself. I mean, if it's customary, there must be lots of examples to give?

An exchange of gifts literally happens in every single state visit. I'm not wasting my time to post stuff that is common knowledge that you should know.

And this plane is not for trump himself. It will be for the department of defense or whoever operates the normal airforce one.
