the point is, she was killed by those that were sent to protect people like her. if this was a police officer shooting an innocent person in south africa the majority of people here would be whinging about leaving and what a terrible place this is.

was it her fault? who cares. someone you love dearly and you are walking home one night and people start screaming at you to get down, and the yget shot, are you still going to say your loved one "should have done what they said"?

situations like this may not be avoidable, but do they need to exist in the first place? she's just one victim now, but she had a name, she had a preference for music, she probably cuddled up to her husband at night, she was a ****ing human being, and now she's dead becoz of some bull**** situation

Alan from what i can see apart from "not listening" she posed no threat, so i am sure there was no need to gun her down, but of course its the US so the world will turn a blind eye as usual and the US zealot will defend this.

When Saddam was deliberately killing innocent people there was silence. But U.S troops shot an innocent person who disobeyed their warnings while they were risking their lives guarding a checkpoint and suddenly they all start crawling out the woodwork spewing condemnation.

How would you have known. They strap bombs to woman with Down's Syndrome ffs. Nobody saw them as a threat and look at how many people died. Responsibility for your actions. If you disobey warnings from soldiers in a warzone you're going to get shot. Bottom line.

Also IMO it makes no difference if they're U.S or Iraqi soldiers. Though for you it probably does

silence where? i've always been amazed at people who say "everyone kept quiet" or "there was silence." prove your point. i could find you posts on the internet complaining about it, do you want me to? all i have to use is Google. this gives no merit to your point and is a weak argument.

so now they're allowed to shoot all women with down's syndrome? tell that to someone you love. "sorry, you should have listened to the soldiers, you deserved to die, bottom line."

race and country don't matter, they don't give people any more reason to get killed. are you assuming he cares less about certain people?

i think it may have had something to do with the "impaired hearing" or the husband being out of range of her. how do you suspect a woman of caring a bomb if she is strollign beside her husband anyway, and why wasn't HE suspicious? there could have been a hundred scenarios, the point is that they're a military force and could have easily shot her shoulder or leg and she would have survived if she was not harmful

Exactly. Whatever happened to "minimum force"?

1st off : Condolences to her family.

2nd Iraq is a warzone. Not getting into why it is or who is responsible it remains one. All who enters, operates or live in a warzone will act accordingly or be a victim fullstop.

It is sad that this event occured but you cant expect a soldier in a warzone to just wound a could-be suicide bomber.

Most unfortunate.

Female Suicide Bomber kills 35 in Baghdad...

Baghdad - A female suicide bomber killed 35 civilians, including women and children, and wounded 65 others on a religious march near the Kadhimiyah shrine in northern Baghdad on Sunday, a government official said.

"A woman wearing an explosive belt blew herself up near one of the gates of the shrine," Iraqi spokesperson for security operations in Baghdad Major General Qassim Atta told AFP.

"According to our first preliminary report, 35 were killed and 65 injured.

Most of them were Iranian pilgrims and women and children," Atta said, describing the force of the blast as "very big".

A defence ministry official said the attack came at about 11:00 (08:00 GMT) as Iranian pilgrims took part in the procession related to the Ashura ceremonies that climax on January 7.

The festival mourns the killing of Imam Hussein by armies of the Sunni caliph Yazid in the year 680.

It is characterised by processions of wailing men beating their chests and engaged in devotional self-flagellation.

No wonder the US military are not taking chances.

Again.. a pichers says a lot.. will debunk the silly bomb in her clothes theory.

That being said how is shooting her going to stop her exploding if she is a suicide bomber?? Most suicide bombers are wired to blow up on fatality too.(and no this is not a difficult thing to do either)

So yah, i wonder tho how long the marine/army personal responsible has been stationed there.. why? because this sort of thing happens with new personal and ones that are there beyond their expiration date and have a questionable sense of reality

Um, the original article said she was wearing a heavy coat and behaving erratically.

I'm not sure where you heard that. My impression was that the US and Israeli forces have been pretty successful in killing suicide bombers before they were able to detonate.

At first I thought "what a pervert" !

Anyway here's pictures of a teenage girl that was aprehended before detonating herself - she's lucky because one of the latest trends is to hold family of the suicide bomber with the threat that they die if the suicide bomber does go through with it, then many are detonated by remote.

Iraqis show video of teen girl in suicide vest
The number of female suicide bombers has more than tripled since 2007
