As some else mentioned about the 200m later in the week, isn't the 200m record normally less than double the 100m record?

So, the old record is 19.30s. We can look forward to something better than 19.16s.

I certainly wouldn't discount Bolt getting a sub 19 second on the 200m. To beat a 12 / 13 year old record record twice in as many years is phenomenal.

Edit: Interestingly enough, it seems to be only the guys that are smashing records - the women's records for 100m and 200m are standing for 21 years already.

I wouldn't bet against Bolt breaking his own 200m record - but it won't be sub-19.

I certainly wouldn't discount Bolt getting a sub 19 second on the 200m. To beat a 12 / 13 year old record record twice in as many years is phenomenal.

Yea females are evolving growing shorter feet to do more dishes so they cannot beat records because their feet size is smaller.

Yes, with plenty of real athletics in between the little dashes.

ie Tonight there is the Men's Hammer, Women's Pole vault, Women's Triple Jump, Men's 10 000m, Men's Steeple and Women's 100m Finals.

who saw the 800m women's race with semenya and japetha tripped over her own 2 feet? japetha was given a place in the semi finals?????? come on!!!! what utter codswallop was that. she tripped and fell and came stone last too bad for her. semenya was able to control herself that she didn't get tripped up by japetha in that race. she shouldn't haven't been given a place in the semi's at all as far as i'm concerned no other athlete has been given that opportunity in the past what's this now? shame she tripped so let's all cry boohoo. semenya is going to run her into the ground in the final.

Yeah, not sure that I agree with the decision to give Jepkosgei a bye into the semis, and she was lucky not to be eliminated there. The finals are tomorrow night - very interested to see what Semenya can do there. She's very raw, but she is the fastest this year and the fastest in the semis....

There is some truth in that - this 200m record is more that double the 100m record which is usually not the case - usually slightly less than double the 100m record.
