Hopefully someone here knows how to fix this!

When I connect a device to my work pc (Windows XP) it brings up a dialogue window to install software for the device. Now I connected my Xperia Go to it yesterday and a dialogue window popped up asking to install the "android device". I thought this might install the desktop software for my phone like it did with my pc at home (Windows 7) but alas it didn't and all I got was a "cannot install" message.

What's happened now is that it's screwed up my drivers for my usb slots and no matter how much I try to reinstall the drivers using the cd that came with the motherboard, it just won't fix the problem. I've tried reinstalling all the motherboard drivers as well and still no go.

I don't know what to do so can someone please offer some helpful suggestions?

It seems things are working now. I just connected my phone and the actual desktop software I installed for the phone has picked up that I connected my phone.

However, my device manager is still showing me that my usb isn't installed properly.
