Use phone as modem via dongle

Hi there,

I have a Motorola V360 and I am trying to use my phone as a modem to connect to the internet via the dongle from my laptop. When I do a search for the "modem" [phone], the bluetooth software on the laptop cannot "find" the phone. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Under your bluetooth settings on the V360 there is an option you need to sellect
"Find me" you'll then get a message that says "discoverable for 60 seconds"

Search for the phone in that 60 seconds....

when you say dongle.is it a bluetooth dongle or a cable?

I know a dongle for being a Bluetooth device via USB (Sort of like "Flash drives")

Bluetooth vs cable

in my experience, using bluetooth instead of a cable when connecting my laptop to internet (3g) via my cellphone, was much slower.

ONLY with the cable connection could I get true 3g speeds.

I would like to know how you get to actually use it as a modem. On my Nokia I just set the apn but the Motorola doesn't seem to have an apn.

Wlamb: Under your connection properties you will find your phone listed under the modems. With it selected click on the configure button. You will then get a drop-down menu with the connection speed. If this is set lower than the internet connection speed you will get a slower connection.
