Used Honda Ballade a good buy?

I've been looking around for a decent used car for a while now and am amazed by the pricing of older model (2012-2013) Honda Ballades. The brand seems to have a strong reputation for build quality and reliability and the Ballade, even in Comfort trim, offers a lot of kit and a reasonably powerful engine for the price. I know they might not be the most exciting cars to drive, but I am willing to compromise to save a few thousand. Is there any reason not to buy one?

There is no reason that I know of. Have a mate that bought one and he is loving every moment in it! Go get it!

As long as it is a Honda I have no reason to not get it as they have a good track record.

I had a 2012 and it was fantastic. Loved the interior and comes with full alloy spare if you get an elegance.

They are as reliable as Corollas, and almost as boring, but you can certainly buy one with your eyes closed. :)

good car, its a pity it is so ugly though (yes I know you shouldn't by cars on looks etc but sometimes there are hopeless cases)

I like the look of look it. Remember that looks are subjective.

Both times I drove one I couldn't help feeling that the gear shift action was really rocky - nothing at all like the more expensive Hondas. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Ballade is now being made in India as well, which is why ... along with the Brio (similar gear shift).

Something the Ballade has in its favour is the ESP and airbags (unique in that price range), but a bad gear-shift would be really annoying in the long-term. Test it well.

The 2012 ones were fine.

I love mine, its an old mans car though.

Don't get an auto, im regretting it. Heavy on fuel and you lose a lot of power unless you are in sport.
Its missing a few things like auto lights and wipers, keyless entry and a button on the remote that opens the boot.
