hmmm.... Getting home at 17h00 this afternoon my modem was(as usual) disconnected. Trying to connect to Sentech kept on giving me an error to the extent:
There was no answer
username/password rejected

Eventually at 20h15 I got around to phoning support - not wanting to hold the 10 minutes on my cell in peak time - and they told me that there's no username such as mine. There was one, though, with a 1 stuck behind it. They had to re-set the password etc, but didn't check much of my personal detail.

Now I'm thinking about a few things,
(1) they gave me somebody else's account(unlikely)
(2) they changed my details for some reason to check if I'd phone them(am I being paranoid?). But why then not only change my password? Or them phone me?
(3) somebody is screwing around in there(likely)
(4) I think the contract that I signed had the username/password on it - now I'm using different ones. Am I in breach? ;)

My normal e-mail@sentechsa.com is still working with the original username/password, so it wasn't changed accross the board.

Wondering if anybody else had the same thing? Anybody know about a way to change my password?

ciao

its (3). I have EXACTLY the same situation. At least they have streamlined the hacked account recovery process now. They also simply added a 1 to mu username without my permission. While my email still works. So the guy that hacked my original account can read my email. Luckily I dont rely on the stoopid sentech email.

Change your password (not that it helps. its not encrypted) at reg.mywireless.sentech.co.za

mail me if you want to discuss the issue further. I thought I was the only one. In fact, Im applying for a refund for the downtime.

I think their user management system is just totally screwed. I have a reverse situation - I can connect with my username/password but today when I applied for an upgrade they said they have no users matching my details. I have a feeling this also somehow ties in with their billing system as they haven't debited my account since may, and it seems there are a lot of ppl not getting billed at the moment.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!![8D]

now that you mention it, greedy, well it's quite obvious. I forgot about the reg.mywi...blahblahblah. not forget about it - forgot the exact address(its not like they link the stuff from their home page, is it?)

Any case, logging in there shows that my current balance is:

<b><font size="2"><font color="blue">Current Balance
R65,549 </font id="blue"></font id="size2"></b>

You'd think that's funny... It's an exact bill for R649 over 101 months!

<b><font color="blue"><font size="2">Previous Billing Date
11/30/12

Next Billing Date
12/31/12

Credit Limit is Unlimited.</font id="size2"></font id="blue"></b>
What a joke!
What Have I _DONE_? Running up a bill like that?
Now just they try taking that amount off my account...hehehe

Klaas,

don't worry its only due in 2012...I've got the same balance - their system is F@#$ed...if you check the monthly statements you can check if you're billed correctly though.

Sh*t, they've totally F$%^ed my account up. I thought I better check. They have fixed the R65000 balance, but now the system says that I signed up on 2 August and that the contract has 25 months to run???
Also it doesn't seem that I'm getting my free month as promised....but how do I check? I refuse to phone the call centre again this week!

Is it a software problem? Seems like meatware to me.

I'm in the business of advising clients on application software, and long ago came to the conclusion that the purchase of software which purports to be all things to all people, is a fundamental mistake made by many an ICT Manager or CEO of a business. I lump into this category the likes of SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft, and many 'ERP' type solutions. The bottom line is that every business is unique, particularly in terms of its policies, procedures and practices, and the software must be designed and developed to cater for this uniqueness. Ah well, so much for Sentech's few hundred million bux of investment on back-office systems - guess who will ultimately pay for it?
