I'm currently unsure if it's a tower or CellC problem, see here for more details:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/320369-Edge-Roaming-problem-need-help-troubleshooting.

Here's the tracert I did, currently it's simply unusable and I've got quite a lot of cap left, seriously don't want it to go to waste:

Can someone with a working CellC connection on Vodacom Roaming please post their tracert for myadsl?

Windows Start Button -> Run -> Cmd -> tracert www.myadsl.co.za

I really need to get the connection in working order soon before the end of the month.

I feel your pain, man. My Red bull mobile phone does not connect at all to the EDGE network when roaming on Vodacom. Also losing my bundle which I cannot use.

Not only that but if it doesn't get fixed by the end of the month. I'm gonna be completely without internet which is gonna be highly problematic for me. I have load to do and no cap to do it with.
Problem is how or when it's gonna get fixed, don't see this as a high priority for Vodacom to fix their network for their competitor...

Was in Gariep (Freestate) last night and on EDGE only got 300 bps (no typo). While Vodacom gave me 1Mbps on my N900. But in Victoria Bay (near George it was 240 Kbps which is usable). Think it really depends on where you are if roaming is "usable".

My roaming was usable up till a week ago, had like 25kb dl speed, could open all pages I went to etc.

Now when I download something, it switches between 0 and 1kb/s. Maybe it's a widespread problem in the FreeState area, but I'll have to test it out in the surrounding areas to confirm it.

Anybody else struggling with Cell C signal piggybacked on VC towers?

Is it just my local VC tower (Buffelspoort NWP) or is anyone else on Cell C struggling to get a decent data signal from the VC piggybacking system? It's been almost unusable for over a week now, where previously I could happily manage EDGE speeds.

Ironically it only seems to be the Cell C signal which is a problem; using a Vodacom SIM pulls in a beautiful 3G signal from the tower (and yes, I know you can only get EDGE when 'roaming' with Cell C on a VC tower). But Cell C's EDGE signal has degenerated here to almost nothing....

Thank you Cell C for actually responding -- highly appreciated. From this I infer that this is a general area problem; would appreciate news from you on progress, thanks!

Updating: still virtually unusable for all the Cell C data customers in this area. One and a half weeks now....
