Depends what you need uncapped for? If its mainly for P2P downloads I'd just buy cheap local only IS accounts and download off the news server. Then using something like RouteSentry and run a SAIX-based account simultaneously for international browsing etc.
I barely miss my uunet account at all - the past few months were worse than ever. I've sinced replaced it with a Telkom SA 3gb account which has never yeilded less than 6gb as well as Openweb 3gb (+27 local). This way I have a savings of about r280 which I can apply as I think necessary.
I have a server in the states where my website and email acc is. Since i run a photolab a lot of clients (and picking up) are sending their files via ftp or email to us. So i need international access to access my email account. And then on the side i also use P2P to dl some tv series which we dont get here since dsat suck big time. Wait till next year to see what pops out ?
UUnet is full of crap now. You complain about the pathetic bandwidth, they tell you they have this new great speed offerring at 7c/mb. Crippling the uncapped accounts to force them to switch it pathetic. It sucks big time.
Have 4mb with UUNET Uncapped and yes local is very fast. International is a joke. Ping to google is about 3700 ms with a 50% packet loss. Torrents running at about 5-10kb. Surfing outside of SA not a feasible option. Hope Mr Beep is offering me a special soon !
