From about the 10 th of October I have found the service has been totally crippled by verizon  .It now takes up to 3 -5 mins to load an international site , and to download a file from a website you get a rate of 1Kbs  .If you use a download accelerator , you find that there are so many errors that a file of 250mb takes in excess of 800mb to download .I have contacted webafrica about this problem & they are trying to sort it out with uunet ,but have not gotten a response other than "we will escalate the issue " .So we have a situation where you are paying for a service that is broken . i would appreciate any advice from people who are on this package or other isp`s ... no I am not cancelling it , that is what they want you to do , I want them to fix it ! They stealing my money dammit

They (Verizon) have discontinued the service so enjoy what you have while you've still got it.

They stopped selling these accounts last year already , but as long as I am paying them i expect a service . What say may be true because by all indications they seem to have stopped the service . As to me enjoying it , might as well sit on a cactus

I found that the only way to download something was to use reget and use 40+ connections.

According to Webafrica the service would have been stopped at the end of the month but they are not going to. (Dunno why since it is crap anyway.) Having the same problem with slow downloads etc. Any advice would be app as well

My opinion - they've crippled it in order to discourage demand. I gave it up last month and havent regretted it.

Even the new unshaped per gb is a poor offering. I've been playing with one this month and have been unimpressed by both the price and the quality. I'd sooner give a SAIX reseller my money.

The way they're headed they'll be lucky to stay even third rate.

Cause its only local thats fast. *u cannot even use IS news server*

International torrents are slow (under 10kb per sec on average)

even International HTTP downloads average at around 2-5kb per sec.

Doesn't really matter if your uncapped. Since i doubt you'll be able to do much more than 10gigs on international anyhow....

You'll be better off using Wireless Iburst then *and i aint a fan of wireless*, Cuz my one bud uses it, pings are bad, and well P2p is bad too. He gets fullspeed with his 3gig cap, and after the cap he gets 5-8kb per sec on international downloads after his cap. And also a 5-8kb per sec on p2p. SO he gets around 15gigs a month easily.

I got up to 100kb/s off downloads before the bump to 4mb/s but as I said earlier that was using Reget and pushing the number of connections to well more than 40 at times.

IS news server isnt that great when you compare it to the paid ones like easynews.

The quality is really getting worse by the day and there seems to be only 2 IP addresses assigned to my line , 196.47.7.163/215 . Anyone else got any different ?

Maybe there are only two customers left and you're one of them. :D

:( It really does feel like I`m the only one .How do I set up a poll on this thread to see how many are still using this "service" how many have left it in the last month & how many are planning to leave ?

Well if the service dont improve very soon i'm saying goodby. Rather spend R500 more and know i have a decent connection. Strange how company's in South Africa keeps on shooting themselves in the foot by providing bad service.

And they have this attitude of switch to our new pay per mb system or go screw yourself. Pathetic! If you pay them for an uncapped account, they should supply an uncapped account and not cripple it to 1/2 the speed of a dialup connection.
