You should be asking what's with Vodacom. They have to modify the generic FW and send back to Nokia to include on NSU.

I really don't see the benefit in waiting for this to happen, when it is very easy to change the code and get the generic unbranded FW.

I don't believe that the "experts" at Vodacom would even be aware of this if it came to any warranty issues.

okay seriously... V10 ****in 10.... Why is SA so far away from anything decent.

What does Nokia have to change for the SA release? Should I just change my product code to EURO1?

I did mine as I posted above.. was simple. Let me post here what needs to be done with links.

Various Sources: (Highly successful, but still... use at own risk)

1. Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
2. Open Nemesis Service Suite and click “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
3. Click on the icon “Phone info”
4. Click on “Scan”
5. Change the product code to the one you want from the list below.
6. Mark the case “Enable”.
7. Press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
8. Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia Software Update.
9. Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
10. That’s it! When you restart your phone, it should now be upgraded!

Software:

I also upgraged to V12 and when downloading the voice guidance it showed 3.5G.

You can turn 3G / HSDPA off under Tools - Settings - Phone - Network - Network Mode - Select GSM.

Backup from PC Suite seemed to work okay after software upgrade!

You choose the first one in the list when it asks you during the install process.

you should have the charger plugged in.. I actually don't think it will allow you to update if it isn't plugged in.
