Not one pic? Such lazy journalism.
Imposters. Border town, so those were actually South Africans in Zimbabwean disguise.

The concept of burning things is apparently unique to SA. And it has its roots in the 1970s ANC. I was told by people from Zim that the lot in SA are the only ones who do the burning thing.
It's evident every day that illegal actions get rewarded. Here we have a prime example: In 2019 municipal employees embarked on an illegal strike, and they vandalised the water infrastructure, so they were dismissed. Yesterday the labour court rules that they must be re-instated, and they each get 12 months' salary.
I kid you not:

The labour court, there's a clue in there, their criminal acts and their employment are two separate things, the business of the labour court is to see if everything pertaining to labour matters was adhered to, in this instance it looks like it wasn't so they get their jobs back.

The criminal matters they are accused of is a separate matter and has nothing to do with the labour court.

Where is the criminal court then? They can't get their jobs back if they are in jail.

Our labour laws are killing this country.

Exactly. SA has the most sheltered and protected labour I have seen anywhere. And they think this is the norm in the rest of the world.

We once had a guy who was late for the company bus transport from the hotel to the work site in Indonesia. The supervisor stopped the bus from leaving and warned him in front of us all and warned us when he got on board; -

"Listen up, all of you. You only get to be late twice when you work here. The second time you will collect your pay and be on a flight to your home country. Do I make myself clear?"

The law of labour is a shining light in the other laws of the country.

It's over protective and extortionate to employers. Way to go in a country with massive unemployment which is partially caused by those laws.

I employ nobody anymore. I used Covid to get rid of them and the government to pay their UIF out. It was almost impossible to get rid of them before Covid. I had to explain why to the labour department and they always negotiated (threatened) for me to keep the employees.

It's now either a casual or a contract for a specific job with payment for stage achievements only.

Enjoy your world class unemployment causing labour laws.

In Indonesia? Indonesians are one of the most relaxed with time nations on the planet. They make African time look like German punctuality in comparison. I've never been to a meeting that started on time or transportation that left on time there. They had that saying "Jam-karet", which meant something like "time is flexible", that they would constantly use for everything. If you had a meeting scheduled to start at 9:00 you were lucky if it actually started at 9:30 as it would more than likely start at 10:00 with the excuse being "Jam-karet" which used to annoy the hell out of me each time.
