Micro$oft stopped supported Windoze 98 years ago, which means that recent software is not designed to work in Windoze 98.

Maybe try Linux and throw Windoze 98 out the windows...

have never used linux..how much resources does it use compared to windows 98?and does the hsdpa card have drivers that allow it to work on linux?
is linux easy to install and where do you get it from?
Thanks for the ideas

I used the dashboard software provided with the original Option card and it worked with Win98 SE but that software doesn't support the Option HSDPA card as most probabily doesn't support the other cards too. I think is was version 4.

I don't know what the specs are for a 'Sony Vaio PCG-C1XN Picturebook', but if you can boot it from a CD, then you should be able to try running a "Live" Linux boot CD and see if it will run on this VAIO of yours, without actually installing yet.

I recommend obtaining a LiveCD & InstallCD version of Ubuntu Linux - obtainable at a nearby Freedom Toaster...

Follow Tazz_Tux's sticky Linux Howto thread in this forum to get 3G|HSDPA going in Linux...

<disclaimer>
Boot from the LiveCD first before attempting any installation, and obviously backup before installing...
