VDSL in Alberton / Meyersdal exchange

Wondering who is on VDSL out of the Meyersdal exchange and your experiences so far,
Who's you're ISP.
Whats your subscribed speed etc?
Whats your actual speed?
What modem you running

Running stable on VDSL2 at the moment, 20Mbps Down/2Mbps up. Sub 25ms ping.
Speedtest : 18Mbps/1.6MBps

Account via MWEB, 100+100GB Capped package which Netflix is destroying at the moment.
Looking, thinking of other ISP's that does not count download traffic,
Modem: Draytek Vigor 2760

How much are you paying for the VDSL?

I am in Brackenhurst, but I have stayed on the ADSL to save money. Running at 11 Mbps.
I'm using a WebAfrica 300Gb capped Package that also gives me unlimited downloads between midnight and 6am.

You say Brackenhurst, then you must be coming up to the Meyersdal exchange, the other 1/2 of Brackenhurst goes down to the Albertsdal Exchange the other side of Klipriver road and I know there is major problems there...

I should be able to upgrade to 10mb - but 4mb seems to be doing the trick for me at the moment.

Max speed 1.2mb. Telkom say no ports available at a closer exchange hence the speed. Frustrating.

hmmmmm, if you check VDSL checker it implies the entire Meyersdal is under VDSL now, which bad piece of copper they hiding down your street.

OK, so I see that I am just one street away from VDSL coverage.
But the crazy thing is... if you put your phone number into the ADSL checker it still says that not even 10 Mbps is available.

I cried when they made a mistake and down graded me from 10Mbps to 2Mbps during the line move, don't want to know what 1.2Mbps feels like anymore.

I"m one street into the Green again.

very happy they changed how the lines run, they now up Hennie Alberts directly to the exchange instead of down to swartkoppies, left, down to Vermooten, left again and thought to the exchange via the feld.

Ahh ok, sorry, that is part of Meyersdal, but forgot think it is only covered by Vodacom at crazy rate.

About the VDSL coverage map, I would not trust it on street level. According to the map I am not covered (Everlasting Street) yet I am enjoying 40mbps VDSL.

Ja, thanks I did phone them and told them that I was one block away on the coverage map, so they did a check, but unfortunately I am not covered.

I guess in my case it is different because we are a big security complex and all the house have their phone lines ending up at a single exchange in the middle of the estate. When they dropped the VDSL exchange it would cover the entire estate. Not sure how they calculate the coverage on the map.



Day time ping seems to higher than after hours.

Edit : Nope, just Vodacom that sux, getting much better results against SIAX/Telkom
