Omnivores used loosely. Dogs do not get the right nutrition out of a plant based only diet. Dogs can get some nutrition from plants but that is only for short periods if they cannot get any sort of animal meat.

There is no way in hell that any dog would have the same quality life on a complete plant based diet compared to a meat based/balanced based diet.

Back in the day when our parents were kids, dog food was unheard of
There was no such thing as tin food for dogs, nor those big 25kg bags of dog biscuits or whatever it is that people buy every day for their dogs

Back then the family used to cook food for the dogs in the kitchen. Potatoes stews, porridge, etc and add the leftover meals bones into it.
